COVID 19 cases are rising in 49 states
Covid-19 cases are surging in nearly every state with the average of new cases at least 10% higher than a week ago -- and 38 states are seeing at least a 50% increase, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. Many experts have attributed the rise to slowing vaccination rates with only 48.3% of the US population fully vaccinated, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "We're seeing this because the public misunderstood the CDC guidance for fully vaccinated people as 'We can now do whatever we want. Even if we are unvaccinated, we can now behave as if we are vaccinated,'" CNN Medical Analyst Dr. Leana Wen told CNN's Anderson Cooper on Thursday. (📸: Damian Dovarganes/AP) -

2,551 cases in one day.
The Los Angeles Times reports "L.A County health officials say the number of cases has increased twentyfold over the last month." Clear evidence that we are not out of the woods, COVID is still around and people are still dying. I wonder if anyone is still paying attention. -

Pet Adoption Statistics 2020
We heard so many wonderful and uplifting stories of pet adoption during the pandemic. If you wanted a dog, particularly a puppy, you most likely had to sit on a waiting list to get one. This anecdotal evidence points toward a huge increase in pet adoption, but what do the numbers tell us? This data report from PetPoint, who has been tracking pet surrender and adoption data nationwide since 2005, paints a slightly different picture. Pet surrenders reduced significantly, so there just weren't as many pets in need of adoption. Pet adoption percentages actually decreased in 2020 from 2019. So the pet adoption boon that we imagined was happening, was not the miracle story that animal enthusiasts were hoping for. As we emerge from the pandemic it will be interesting to look at the final report at the end of 2021 to see if there is a drastic increase in surrenders as many shelters are anticipating. -

Pandemic
As of today, we as a society have been struck by two major pandemics, COVID-19 and Racism. Although both of these pandemics aren't an easy fix it is important to acknowledge and remember those that have lost there lives to these two catastrophes. On each of the two sheets, I wrote down the names of 100 people that have lost to either the virus or police brutality in the United States on the backside of each sheet I wrote 'Black Lives Matter' and 'Covid-19' to signify the cause of death for the said group of names. I decided to sew the two sheets together to show how in both instances racial discrimination and bias can be accounted for as reasons for the death of these individuals. For this project, I wanted to make a piece to remember the people behind the statistics, to humanize them in an otherwise forgetful world, and to say their names. -

CovidWhileBlack - A Twitter post about Housing Instability
The twitter page CovidWhileBlack shared a story, which I have linked, titled "COVID-19 Exposes the Black Community's Long History of Housing Instability." The struggle to keep a roof over one's head had been even more difficult through this pandemic, but even more so for many Black people. This article describes the shocking statistics of the inequalities. With many people losing their jobs, and with only 47% of the Black US population owning their own homes, the pandemic had caused many Black Americans to face evictions. These are sad statistics showing the state of inequality against Black citizens, especially during this pandemic. Real change needs to be made. -

Statistics
The statistics of Covid 19 are rather astonishing. Over 3.12 million people across the world have died of the virus. Roughly 10% of the world has had Covid 19 at one time. It is crazy to me that that many people have been affected by it. I don't know anyone that has been affected by it. I don't know how. Everyone I knows life changed through Covid whether it was being trapped at home for months on end, or maybe not being able to go to school, or losing a job. I have gone through some of these personally, but overall nothing bad has happened to me. -

Covid-19 Statistics
Over the pandemic, I've learned a lot of things about people and the world. The pandemic was a lonely time, but I think it's made me realize that you can't give up just because things get hard. I've heard a lot of teens and people my age became depressed instantaneously. Especially on social media, everyday people were only talking about how bad things have gotten instead of trying to keep their spirits up. 26.2 million people have gotten the virus, and 440K people have died, but all of us had to find a way to be happy. In our city(LA) especially, we have higher covid cases than any other place in the county. Even though things are hard now there still are a lot of exciting things to think about. -

Covid 19 Final Entry - Statistics
Covid-19 has around 20-2,000+ victims a day losing their lives. Around 2,000-10,000+ people are being diagnosed a day. This whole corona virus is a total pain because of all the lives that we have lost as well as everything that has been shut down and re-opened and shut down again. Everyone's lives have changed and their still is no vaccine thoroughly thought through and produced yet. Hopefully everything will be over soon. -

Statistics and Final Thoughts of Covid
World Wide there has been 102 million cases of covid. In January 2020 there was about 282 cases. Around May 28 there was about 100,000 new cases worldwide and then around July 20 there was around 300,000 new cases world wide. December 31 there were 700,000 new cases and this month there was over 2 million cases. This virus affected me in that I couldn't see my grandma and I couldn't see my friends. I also couldn't go to school so we have online school and I do not like it at all. -

Statistics
There are 2.16M people who. Died from covid world wide out of 100M cases. Almost everyone knows someone who got it. They got a vaccine now which is good to stop covid. In my state alone there are 38,927 deaths. I hope that the end of covid is near although covid is spiking right now but they say it is just because of the holidays. And it is slowly going down. If the vasine works we should be back to normal after sumer. I am not very scared of getting it because mostly only old or unhealthy people die from it. -

My Thoughts on The Virus
I have read many statistics and learned much about this virus and I have come to a conclusion that it is dangerous and what doctors have been saying since the start is totally correct, I heard that it won't stop until almost everyone on earth has gotten it, and that is slowly becoming a reality, but i also heard that the mortality rate will remain at 1% no matter what which has also shown to be true. The one thing that bothers me though is that scientists said it could last up to 2 years, which is starting to sound realistic and not extremely exaggerated. My final thoughts in this virus are that we should all do our best to stay safe and listen to doctors. -

The Numbers
How much freedom we had throughout the pandemic depended solely on the statistics and numbers. If the number of COVID-19 cases was on a upward trend, then we had to stay at home and couldn't go places or eat at restaurants. If the numbers were on a downward trend, then things would open up until the cases started increasing. This has occurred throughout the pandemic. My final thoughts are that I can't wait for a time when we have no restrictions on the places we can go and when we can stop wearing out pesky masks. -

COVID-19 Stats and Story
Coronavirus happened so quickly. It is difficult to recall details from March 14 2020. The day my family and thousands of others went into quarantine. March 14 2021 is approaching quickly. Back then it seemed like nobody knew anybody who had the virus. It was all rumors and stories. Now it seems like everybody knows or has had Coronavirus. A prediction is that 1 in 3 people in LA county have had Coronavirus, which is totally insane. Los Angeles county has over 10,000,000 residents. Meaning that about 33,333,333+ people have been infected, many without knowing. Although it is an estimate, that shows how serious this virus is. 1000-3000 (about) people in America die due to Coronavirus each day. About 15,000 people die each day worldwide. There have been almost 100,000,000 Coronavirus cases and 2 Million deaths. 1/70 of the world has been diagnosed, not including those who are asymptomatic and those who were not or do not have access to tests. About 2 million people have died. That is 1/50 of those diagnosed. Seeing these numbers shocks me. It opens my eyes and makes me realize how truly important it is the wear a mask and to be safe. My grandpa, I call him Papa, is getting the first dose of his Coronavirus vaccine tomorrow. I am so excited that he will have immunity. There are 11 cases of Coronavirus in his 200 person retirement home. He is 84 years old. I am so glad that Papa will be safe. He was widowed when my grandma, Grammy about 11 years ago, so I believe she had been his guardian angel just as she has been mine. My final thought is that I cannot wait for Coronavirus to be cured and for the vaccine to have wider distribution. -

Covid stats.
Personally, I don't really have an exciting story about Covid. It's just there. I haven't been affected by it or anything. But statistics show that in Ventura County which is where I live there are 13,593 cases of Covid-19. Theres not much to it really. Stay home, where your mask, and stay six feet. Just follow those guidelines and you're set. Also too, Covid has been on a downfall since January 14th. So that is good. -

Covid statistics
In the world there are currently 99.4 million cases and 2.13 million deaths. It's insane that in a little under a year so much damage has been done. The ratio of cases to death doesn't seem too bad if you think of it as numbers. But each number is a person, a person with friends and family who lost their life. In California there are 3.19 million cases, cities like LA with dense population are hotspots for cases. Living in California and very close to LA comes with lots of rules that others states have eased up on. It's hard to grasp the fact that so suddenly we are living through a pandemic. A lot of people have taken this time to improve their life and self but it has also messed up so many peoples lively hoods and metal health. Everyone's adapted to Covid after all this time and things are slowly going back to the original way. Before the first shutdown it was terrifying to think of what the future holds but now its become normal. Its going to feel strange going back. At the end of the day everyone is just trying to keep themselves safe and okay. -

The End of an Era
Here we are, almost a year after the beginning of COVID, with over 99 million total cases, and 2 million total people dead from this sickly disease. In California alone, there has been over 3 million cases. If you would have told me a year ago that this is where we would be, I would laugh. But that laughter has turned into tears because of the manslaughter of COVID-19. There are timelines out there stating the overall progression of this virus, but I will tell you my timeline and experience with COVID. In March, I was told by my teachers that we were leaving school for "just a few weeks" to see how this new virus would play out. I thought it would be a much needed break from my tedious every day life at school. After a while, I started to lose hope, and when they announced we were not going back to school, I was devastated. By Summer, my life was really boring and felt like it didn't hold much worth. I was tired of living in solidarity. When school started in the fall, I was happy that I would have routine in my life again, but it still was the same; boring and lonely. Come winter time, I was finally excited again, for my school announced we were returning in January. I was so happy that my life would finally gain a little more normalcy. But, the day before school was supposed to start, my father tested positive for COVID, ruining my plans for returning to school. I was devastated, but I knew we had to stay home to keep other safe. Finally, last week, I was able to return to school. Since then, I have finally been happy; I don't feel so lonely anymore. My overall experience with COVID was painstaking, but so much has changed, and this virus, although horrible, has made me a better and more grateful person. As we near the end of our COVID-19 journey, we need to recognize that everything happens for a reason, even this. -

Statistics of Covid-19
So far worldwide Covid 19 has infected 99.3million people and there have been a total of 2.13 million deaths. In Los angles county there have been a total of 3.19 million cases and 37,118 deaths. Covid 19 has been going on for over a year and we have been in quarantine for nearly a year. We think around New Year's my nana may have gotten Covid- 19 but she just had a sore throat and a bit of a cough it lasted for about 3 weeks and she was fine and now she feels great. I did not like being stuck at home and not being able to go anywhere. I don't think it is smart to close our small businesses and restaurants and keep our huge chain stores open and thriving. I personally think that we should open up all the businesses and restaurants. If someone doesn't agree with that and thinks everything should be shut down then they don't have to go to those restaurants or businesses they can stay home but let people who want to support business go to them. -

100,000 Dead
This day hit us hard. 100,000 Americans dead. As of today (June 25, 2020) the number is 124,440. And yet it is an actual debate for many on if social distancing and masks are necessary.
