Trump Postpones Stimulus Check until After Election
The main point of the news article is to inform those looking for a second stimulus check that it will be pushed back until after the election. I choose this article because it's important to a large number of people because the check is very important to many people’s businesses, families, and other things. It reveals how people struggle financially during this crisis as it can be hard to provide an income. Some bias against Trump, for trying to sway the votes in his favor. I think the media’s responsibility during the pandemic is to inform the public on new occurrences that manifest with the virus. It is also their responsibility to be a watchdog over other media sources and people. If any wrong doing happens it is their job to report on it. -

A Letter From the President
Received in early May, the letter, bearing the president's stamp, informs the recipient of their stimulus payment made possible by the CARES Act; an act of Congress that pumped over $2 trillion into a once robust US economy now crippled by the coronavirus and the states' subsequent lockdowns. Furthermore, this artifact reflects the virus's growing politicization during a contentious campaign year, with the incumbent president attempting to revive the US economy despite the grave threat posed by COVID-19's onslaught. Letters, such as this, that were "signed" by the president angered many within the US, as they viewed this as a politically-motivated stunt, thus reflecting the festering political divide that has only been made worse as COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc across the world. Reaction to a sudden lockdown
I have submitted 3 memes which highlight people's reaction to the pandemic. One of the memes shows what everyone expected from 2020 vs what they got which was police guarding toilet paper against people who were scared and started hoarding it. The second meme shows Darth Vader as the good guy as he is wearing a mask and listening to orders. This shows the redefinition of good vs bad citizen. The third meme shows the anxiety of people who are unable to pay rent and collecting more and more debt. With the government stimuli being too little to actually help, and the worst unemployment in history, people are feel attacked as shown in the meme. -

Native Sun News Today: Pandemic consolation prize: View from Indian Country
"Delays and underpayments were not uncommon due to what The Washington Post termed “glitches” in the filing and collection methods used by both the bureaucracy and private tax consulting firms. After all, they were sorting their way through a maze of accounting steps as novel as the pandemic coronavirus itself." -

A meme about the stimulus checks.
This meme depicts Indiana Jones from the ride in Disneyland trying to shore up the economy with the $1200 stimulus check as it was first going out and not really being able to close the gap. Personally, I don't think the US government is doing enough to help people in perilous situations and a $1200 check doesn't really go that far for people who are low income, especially when people have to worry about healthcare, rent, and food. Many may have lost their jobs or cannot work due to being high risk and/or not being able to do their jobs online for various reasons. -

California Valley Miwok Tribe Chairwoman Issues Statement In Response to Passage of Federal Stimulus Package
The California Valley Miwok Tribe’s Chairwoman Silvia Burley issued a statement in response to the $2 trillion coronavirus stimulus bill passed by Congress: “Our Tribe, like many others throughout the United States, will not see a penny from the federal stimulus package despite our members’ dire need and right to these funds. An ongoing dispute with the Bureau of Indian Affairs over our Tribe’s right to self-govern has placed our Tribal members’ health and safety, including that of my mother – the last full blood Miwok Indian, at immediate risk.” #IndigenousStories -

The Exotic Influence
We have reached the point where many Americans are receiving their stimulus checks as an economic relief in response to the hardships Covid-19 has brought upon our economy. Many are getting at least $1200 on their checks and many memes are surfacing with different ways to spend the money (none of which are for the checks intended purpose). This, along with the added popularity of Tiger King made for this quality meme. -

The Week of Baking
This week I have done nothing but school work and bake. I have had so many reciepes that I have wanted to try for so long, and I finally have the time. They have all come out pretty good, except my sister burnt one batch of peanut butter cookies. This week the Stimulus package is supposed to be distributed, so we will see how long that takes. We also found out this week that there has been a federal addition to unemployment, which will help a lot of Americans keep their homes and vehicle payments on track. This is honestly turning into quite the financial disaster, especially if the government does not make good on their promise. -
