How Indonesia's Education System Is Faring
"Since March 2020, students, parents, and teachers in Indonesia have been grappling with school closures affecting 62.5 million students from pre-primary to higher education." With such a socioeconomically diverse population, it's difficult to gauge just how accessible isolated learning would really be during the pandemic. The Ministry of Education and Culture had to move quickly to assure that there was some structure and guidelines set in place for educational institutions to follow. Unfortunately, as internet access isn't quite the common luxury many households have, the ministry sought partnership with television programming stations. This was to, at least, provide educational material to those who have access to televisions but not internet. The article goes on to provide four ways in which they hoped would assist in the growing education deficiency. 1) Develop more solutions to reach students without internet access; 2) Increase connectivity and train teachers to deliver more effective and interactive online learning; 3) Identify and support those falling behind with differentiated instruction; 4) Support disadvantaged students to return to school. -

My Experience With Lockdown
The biggest challenge I faced with corona was not being able to see people or do anything. I wanted to be with friends so badly and being stuck inside my house made me crazy some days. Covid 19 was stressful for my dad because during the begging of quarantine he couldn't have his clinic or perform surgeries. This made my parents stressed about money because just bought another house and have a lot of expenses. However, there were some positives of quarantine. I got so bored I worked out and got in shape a little. I also feel like I got a lot closer with my family, even though I definitely did get tired of them. Quarantine also made me anxious and stressed. I am more of an extrovert and being with people energizes me and makes me happy, so not being able to see people definitely affected me. Quarantine also allowed me to learn new things in the kitchen and I realized that I don’t hate hikes as much as I thought I did. I also found new TV shows that I loved and we also got a cat to entertain us. -

The newest fashion accessory, the mask.
Once we realized that masks helped stop the transmission of the virus, we began to collect them. It became our newest accessory, and we enjoyed finding new patters and designs. My husband found that he had to get special ones to go over his beard, and everyone complained how much they hurt their ears. This picture is of my Casa de papel (a show that my husband and I binge watched during the lockdown) mask that I bought in Etsy. It's not very breathable, so I don't wear it often. -

Trump Rally Amid High Covid-19 Numbers in Iowa
Iowa is one of the states with the highest coronavirus numbers as of October 16, 2020. President Trump plans to hold a rally for his campaign right after he recovered from the virus. This photograph talks about the measures they plan to take during the rally. There is a chance that even though they are taking these measures; it does not mean that it will prevent the numbers from going up, especially since President Trump just recovered. In many local newspapers, there is a lot of concern over this rally. -

What item summed up my COVID experience
I decided to choose this item because in the lockdown stage of quarantine, besides working out there was not much else to do. I read an interesting book during that time as well but my TV is definitely what I got most of my entertainment from for a while. -

Kath Day-Knight's guide to isolation
I found this really funny. It’s a very Australian Covid19 meme, using screengrabs from Kath & Kim, an iconic Australian TV show. Part mockumentary, part sitcom, the show’s eponymous characters are an outrageous mother-daughter duo who live in the fictional outer suburb of Fountain Gate. On reflection, the boredom, banality and mini-dramas of suburban life are actually a strangely perfect parallel to our lives in lockdown. Many of us feel like we are going slightly loopy. We may spend unusual amounts of time engaged in mindless activities around the house or garden. We used to squeeze thirty minutes of exercise or a trip to the supermarket into our busy schedules. Now we shape our weeks around these events. Once allowed to drink and smoke in the world’s bars and beer gardens, we are now, like Kath, forced to uncork the chardonnay night after night (or, let's face it, midday) in our own kitchens. Upon discovering this meme, I had been spending a lot of time drifting around the garden gazing at trees from different angles, watching birds and trying to speak to my chickens (Kath 4). My friend’s brother was sitting on an exercise ball in a work Zoom meeting, and a colleague asked him, “Are you sitting on an exercise ball?” He didn’t realise he had been bouncing up and down (Kath 1). Another friend has been on a reading craze in lockdown, devouring about one book per day-and-a-half (Kath 3). Which Kath are you today? #HUM402 -

Masterchef Australia's Perfect Storm
HUM402 In April 2020, Masterchef Australia premiered its 12th season, and received the best ratings in years. As well as featuring old 'Fan Favourite' contestants, for a stressed out nation in lockdown the nostalgia, comfort, and domesticity of Masterchef, and the lack of other places to be of an evening, definitely contributed to the shows success. I know my family is hooked for the first time in eight years, and Masterchef has become something we look forward to doing together every evening. -

Grandparents watching the news on Covid-19/coronavirus / Hist15H CSUS
This image shows two elderly people, a man, and women, sitting on their couch watching a news report of another coronavirus case. A cat is sitting on the couch as well which shows how the only company they had other than themselves was their pets and the TV. Many immunocompetent members of our society have to stay home during this pandemic because they do not want to risk contracting the disease. Many elderly specifically are afraid to even go to the grocery store in fear of the virus, so instead, they spend their days at home. Many people are watching the news and keeping u with politics even more now, looking out for the next changes that are to take place with this novel virus. https://www.instagram.com/p/B-17cXkpAIG/ -

Social Distancing and 90 Day Fiance
The quarentine has opened up the time for myself and my parents to binge watch the show 90 Day Fiance together. It has been a good way for us to get together, not get on each others nerves, and to take our minds off of the pandemic for a little bit. Recently the show has started a new small series where they have cast members vlog from home and discuss their experiences and how their lives have changed with the virus. It was interesting to so this kind of programming on cable. These days have been blurring together for a lot of us in my household, but having shows that post weekly helps orient myself to the day of week that it is. -
