The Grind
I spent a lot of time in that place, you could say it kind of became a reality. Basically being stuck at home and working laboriously on schoolwork and studying for online exams such as the AP tests. The work only stops on the weekend where I can finally relax and do whatever I want. Once the weekend ends it's back to the endless labor and tiresome assignments that keep being piled on top of each other. -

Tokyo Gov Koike - Mitsu des video game
In April 2020, as the Japanese national government dragged its feet on declaring a state of emergency or taking other strong actions, Gov. Koike Yuriko of Tokyo began holding daily TV appearances in which she encouraged the people of Tokyo to take responsible steps, including closing shops, working from home, allowing your employees to work from home, wearing masks, etc, as well as to avoid "the three Mitsu," meaning places which are crowded, closed-in, and involve close interaction. Someone then made this video game, in which you play as Gov. Koike, going around Tokyo and telling people "Mitsu desu!" ("You're too close!", or more literally, "this is crowding!"), to try to break up crowds. -

Left on Read
"Left on Read is an choice-driven narrative platformer about the harsh realities of modern age communication. You play as a college freshman, texting your crush over a long period of time. You must carefully choose dialogue choices to keep the conversation interesting and the relationship alive as you do your best to not get left on read. Good luck." -

Increased Traffic on Online Gaming Servers: League of Legends
The image is a permanent message posted on the game client of League of Legends since the quarantine began. As more people are spending time at home, the online gaming servers of League of Legends are being overburdened because too many people are accessing the game at the same time. This leads to game lag and increased strain on the internet service providers. This seems to be a direct effect of the Covid-19 outbreak since more people have free time, why not make time move faster by playing video games. I am certain there is increased traffic with all video games, online or offline, because video games are a popular source of home entertainment in today's world. Riot Games created the image. They are the company responsible for creating the game League of Legends. -

Birthday during COVID-19.
My 21st birthday happen to fall in the middle of this pandemic, concequently not allowing me to see my family in person to celebrate. As a result, we scheduled a massive zoom meeting where about 20 members of close friends and family gathered to play games online and sing happy birthday in lieu of celebrating in person. #REL101 -

Animal Crossing, NKY Style
Many people around the world are escaping into the unfailingly wholesome and customizable world of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Though insulated from the pandemic, COVID-19 often follows players into the digital world they create. A user from Northern Kentucky used the custom crafting feature in the game to share Governor Andy Beshear's message of social distancing with their town's villagers. -

Family Game Night
Due to COVID-19, my family and I have tried to find more ways to hang out together at home. Before the outbreak, we usually visited local stores, movie theaters, and restaurants each week. However, since COVID-19 has forced us to stay home, we have been trying to find things to do together that do not involve going out. As a group, we have been playing video and board games, watching TV and movies, eating dinner as a family, cleaning the house, and walking our dog. Recently, for one of our game nights, we decided to play a new game called “Escape the Room: Mystery at the Stargazer’s Manor”. This game is an ‘at-home’ escape room. My family and I love going to escape rooms, so we thought this would be a fun alternative to try during COVID-19. My family was able to successfully escape and finish the game in the allotted time. We really enjoyed playing this game because it allowed us to participate in one of our favorite activities, without leaving our house. -

Back to old times
Since we've been in quarantine, my family and I have been spending a lot of time together. Every day feels like the days are getting longer and we run out of things to do. A couple things that we have been doing are playing old games that we haven't in years. We pulled out the old Wii and have been playing games like Mario cart and Wii sports. When that gets boring we play card games and teach each other ones we don't know. Games have been a big part of quarantine life so far. It's given me more time to spend with my family because with our busy schedules, that gets cut down sometimes. -

Socially Distanced D&D Game (Dungeons and Dragons)
This photo by my mom (from her bedroom window), shows me, my sister, and two friends playing D&D, while seated 6 feet apart. This is before Northampton county PA instated a "stay at home" order to limit all "non-essential" social contact.
