Anti-mask protesters take to the streets in Calgary to fight COVID-19 restrictions
This article details one of the numerous ‘freedom marches’ which took place in Calgary Alberta, Canada. These people were protesting in response to the government lockdowns, mask mandates and regulations to help limit the spread of Covid-19. However, what is interesting in this particular article is the reference to the multiplicity of causes behind each protestor; that protestors had different causes, and reasons for showing up. People marched for the obvious ‘anti-mask’ causes, yet others would protest for the ‘Wexit’ movement, which is the desire to establish either an independent Albertan ‘republic’ or join the U.S. as the 51st state. This item is important as it demonstrates how the pandemic sceptic movements of Calgary Alberta were viewed in a negative light; more importantly how these movements often co-opted other fringe movements such as the Albertan separatist movement. Similarly, the vitriol of these protestors is on display, as the Calgary freedom marchers have been notable for their behaviour of spitting, coughing and screaming at passersby, police and local businesses as evident in this particular story. Similarly, many believe these mask-less movements are super spreader events which are contributing to the spread of the virus in several urban centers throughout the province of Alberta, such as Calgary, Edmonton and Red Deer. This article provides substance to the pandemic sceptics of Alberta, Canada as no different to the anti-maskers of the United States; as uploading this, many of the organizations who attended and organized these events are currently organizing a massive march throughout the province which has been marketed to appear alike the tiki-torch rally of the far right in Charlottesville in 2017. I believe this article would fit best in the social justice collection to demonstrate the public/media response to the pandemic sceptics marching in the streets of Albertan cities. -

Spend time doing what matters to you most.
During the COVID-19 pandemic I have had to surmount multiple extremely challenging situations that were only made even more difficult by the pandemic, including the death of my last grandparent. As someone with pre-existing conditions, I usually have to be very careful about not just protecting myself when I leave my house in Chandler, Arizona, but making sure I don't spread any disease to my family. When I got the news that my Grandmother probably didn't have much time left due to her cancer, it was extremely distressing for several reasons. The main reason was the fact that I was losing my grandmother, but one factor that was just as, if not more distressing, was the question of how to be able to best safely spend time with her. After a long discussion with my family, I made it clear that just being on video chat or on the phone with my grandmother was not enough; I wanted to find a way to travel to her house in Kansas, and physically be there for her. It was not an easy decision to make, especially when one takes into account that my method of transportation was to fly, which made me very nervous as someone with pre-existing conditions. Fortunately, I was able to take a safe flight to Kansas, but I was shocked to find family visiting my grandmother from out of state that not only refused to wear masks around her, even though she had virtually no immune system left. Despite such stressful conditions, I was able to spend a week with my grandmother just before she passed away, even though COVID-19 made it very hard. The fact that I was able to do such a thing is striking to me, especially when compared to the vast amount of people around the world who aren't able to spend time with loved ones infected with COVID-19 before they pass away. Looking back, I am very lucky I did not get sick, and I was even more lucky that flights were beginning to become regularly available again after they had been shut down earlier in the year. Most of all, I feel very grateful that I was able to spend time with my grandmother, especially when so many people are dying alone all over the world, leaving families distraught, and without closure. -

COVID-19 Rules and Procedures
The last year in change has consisted of way too many rules and procedures mandated to be followed. Rules such as mask wearing, social distance, occupancy limitations, etc. All of which are crazy and unnecessary. Masks have been scientifically proven by tons and tons of scientists and sources that they do very little to protect you, and honestly only harm you. Masks prevent your oxygen intake drastically especially when working out when you need it the most. People have developed breathing issues from mask wearing and masks have done almost nothing to protect you from covid 19. Right now, cases are said to be at their highest, when nearly all Americans are wearing their masks everywhere they go. Something's up because either the cases are fake or masks don't work. It's one or the other. Social distancing can help, sure, but realistically nobody is doing that and unless you are part of the elderly population it doesn't even matter. Getting covid is literally the flu. It comes and goes. The flu is just something people get and have to deal with it isn't a big deal. A virus with over 99% survival rate is being freaked out upon like it's the Black Plague. Unless you are the elderly you really have nothing to worry about so I'm not sure what we're doing all this 'protection' for. -

My feelings on the rules and procedures that we have to take.
I think the rules and procedures we have to take to be safe during this pandemic are reasonable and fair. I think this because everyone wants to be safe and healthy especially doctors so when many doctors are telling us specific things to follow i'm going to think about why this i benefiting me and keeping me safe. Like wearing a mask, people say they don't work but doctor's on the other hand say they are very useful and will protect you from the virus that is in fact airborne. Staying six feet this is another big one, this distance is the correct and closest distance you can be from someone without picking up any viruses. These are the two biggest rules and procedures that I think we should follow and that work. -

COVID lockdown rules
The stupid COVID rules that have been put in place are not worth following, this virus has a 99.9% recover rate for anyone in between 4-50 and we have to shut the whole country down. I live in California which is democrat run so we have to be on red alert like this virus is a threat to all humanity. It’s stupid and it always has been. I wish I lived in Florida at this point because I can play sports there and live life. But no, I have to comply to California’s socialist communist ideology’s. -

Rules and Procedures for Covid.
There are too many rules and procedures for a simple virus that %99.97 of people under 25 recovers from. 1. We have to wear a piece of paper or cloth over our face. 2. We must stay 6 feet from every person that comes near us. 3. If your nose is showing you must move face-covering approximately one inch up your face. 4. If you do not have a piece of cloth or paper on your face you are not allowed to go inside any place or else you will be asked to leave. 5. You cannot be around people that are not part of your family. There are lots more than our stupid state wants us to do that I don't have time to name. It feels like people in government have lost all common sense and don't have an IQ higher than Forest Gump. None of this make sense, today I was outside and not around anyone so I thought with the smart part of my brain and took my mask off but that too is illegal. I can't wait until the people find their common sense and just basic knowledge. These rules makes us look like a communist country and they are the worst. -

Rules to follow
When covid first started I don't think anyone knew what to do. Everyone was like wear a mask do this do that. I mean it really didn't seem necessary even now it still doesn't. I got called creepy for not wearing a mask. I think that yes we should take precautions but we also shouldn't have to be locked up. I mean eventually everyone is going to get covid. I mean there is really no escaping that. I mean we have to wear a mask, social distance, we can't eat inside any more. And I think it is the most idiotic thing ever in the history of things. I mean I get it if you are scared of covid I will respect you and keep my mask on but I mean come on really we can't take our masks off... At ALL! near ANYONE! In the entire time our nation has been around we have never EVER had to shut everything down. I understand masks and taking precautions and if your sick stay home but really lock down. I am just so fed up with this stupid covid lockdown. -

Rules and Procedures during Covid
During Covid-19, there were many rules and procedures that people had to go through in their everyday lives. The most important rule, in my opinion, is to wear a mask. Everyone had to wear a mask whenever they went out in public. At work, grocery stores, pet stores, basically everywhere. We didn’t have to wear masks when we were at the beach, the park, and the golf course. But when we were in those places, we must be socially distanced from other people. I remember when my sister came home from going out to buy groceries, she met someone that was refusing to wear a mask. Now, we were about 10 months into the pandemic, so wearing a mask outside is basically a well-known rule. As my sister was standing in line, the lady in front of her was saying she didn’t need to wear a mask. She told everyone in there that it was useless and that no one should need them. My sister just watched on, not wanting to join in the argument. -

the beginning
The day before quarantine, I was with my friend and we had both just gone to a birthday. we knew about the virus but not about social distancing and masks. my dad had called me and told me to stay away from anyone. I was confused on why but when I went to Northern California, I realized that the cases in LA started to spike rapidly. from that moment forward, I wouldn't be seeing anybody for the next five months. when I went up there in November, there were few cases. Maybe 50. so when we went out to get food, groceries, or anything like that, I realized nobody really bothered to wear a mask. of course my family still did but we ended up getting weird looks from other people for wearing one. it was really strange. -

Reflections on Covid from the perspective of the Immune compromised.
Personal Reflection -

Beginning of the Virus
When I first learned there was a virus going around I heard that someone in either the government or a high place started it for population control. At the time(and maybe still right now) there was higher population of seniors than children. Covid was originally affecting seniors so I believe this argument. -

Where I believe Covid-19 Came From.
Many different people have talked about what they think caused the pandemic Covid-19. Personally, trying to take into account both sides, I would think the virus was manufactured in a lab in Wuhan China. I believe that this virus was a result of an attempt at biological warfare. Though this is a common belief, there is no real way to prove any guess or theory. -

The Origin
When the stories of this mysterious virus that was killing tons of people in China started popping up on the news, people thought that it had started from bats in a market. Now we know that this was a lie and that it really started in lab. I was kind of astonished that this huge disease started from a few small mammals that were carrying a virus. I was originally kind of confused that somehow a few people eating bats had started a world-wide pandemic. -

Covid's Uprising
When Covid was first announced I figured it was just a regular sickness. Until the market crashed, now I knew if was purposeful. The virus could have been made in China or it was just made naturally. I researched and saw that China's market was slowly crashing, maybe they found a way to take everyone with them. Most cases like these are just powerful people wanting to keep their power or seeking more power. My views on Covid-19 have changed since, that only affects people with pre-existing disabilities or diseases. Also it affects older people a lot more than younger. Maybe this whole thing is just a huge hoax to make the market start to go up. Since most of the deaths are just due to their pre-existing conditions. In my opinion Covid doesn't exist or was a virus spread to crash and rebuild the market. -

How covid started...
I think covid is just another mutation of the Flu, but people have made such a big deal about this virus that they have now made it political and an excuse for everything. I think Patient 0 just got a mutated Flu that they named Covid-19. -

Who or what caused Covid 19
I used to think Covid 19 was just another illness like the flu but just until recently I believe that it was made in a Lab. The reason I believe Covid 19 was started in a lab was because that soon after China had got the viruses they knew everything about it. They went straight into lock down and their cases went down fast. I also think it was made in a lab because of how fast we found a cure. We still haven't found a cure for cancer after about like 5000 years but we were able to get a cure for Covid after about a year which seems a little suspicious to me. That what I think cause or made Covid 19. -

Corona Virus Theory
There is many theories about the Corona Virus and there is many different feelings on the subject. I personally believe it is just being used to control us. I believe this because this virus has over a 99% survival rate and all of the people that are dying from it have already compromised immune systems, meaning they were already ill. It seems as though they want everyone to rely on the government for money because they can not work and that means the government has control over them. Another reason I think the virus is not serious is because of the fact it is flu season and nobody has gotten the flu. I think they are just taking illnesses like the flu and saying its corona because they are trying to scare people with exaggerated numbers. I have also not taken any precautions during this virus and have not gotten sick once. I have also noticed that if this virus was as dangerous as the media says they would definitely not let us out of our house, but instead we are allowed to go on tight planes, busses, and more things because apparently hand sanitizer and a mask can save us from a "deadly" virus. I don't think it is as bad as they make it seem and they are just using it as an excuse to control people and people are letting them. -

COVID-19 Initial Thoughts
In March of 2020 I got my first real glimpse of what practically the entire next year of life was going to be like. China released a virus that would eventually spread across countries. From that first report everything went south. People began to freak out like it was the Black Plague. This fear spread nationwide in the United States influencing unknowing people that this was a virus to be feared. A virus with over 99% survival rate caused a panic that hasn't been seen in centuries. People almost might as well have freaked out about the common cold at the rate it was/is at. All over the media were false news, lies, and deception influencing such thoughts, giving people different beliefs and thoughts on practically everything regarding it. This year was indeed crazy, but not because of a virus and sicknesses. Because of freaked out crazy people thinking this is the end of the world and influencing others that it is as well. -

"Explain what you thought (or now think) about who or what is the cause of this current virus?"
In the beginning of this Covid-19 situation I was very scared and nervous about this pandemic. I didn't really know much about it but all I knew was that it came from China and maybe an animal. Whatever caused this virus must have been something with lost of bacteria because so many people have died and gotten sick from it. Now I think it might have been like a bat or even just a virus from another country that later spread and got way worse. I feel that if we were to not have this situation happen in our life we wouldn't have learned all the many things humans have learned from it. Everything happens for a reason and having masks helps with other viruses other then Covid but this virus has been crazy for so long. -

My belief on the cause of the virus
I do not know what causes the COVID-19 virus, but I think that it was was caused by the place in China were they sell the monkeys for food but in a close space, or maybe it was a virus that was made to disrupt countries. -

My theory on the Covid-19
My theory on how the Coronavirus started was that it was just a normal disease that we had a vaccine for then some animal carried it and mutated it and made it far worse from what it was. My guess was that it started off as the flu or something like that but changed over time because of the mutation. I dought that it was caused by anything else but if I were to have to say something else I would think that maybe it was a man-made lab virus that accidentally got out to the public. -

COVID is all part of a plan
COVID was not a mistake or an accident. It didn’t just come here like other viruses did it was on purpose. The far left, Germany, Italy, and other countries used this virus to shut down people, shut down opinions and anyone who thought otherwise. Their main goal was to get President Trump and company out of the White House. They rigged the election, rigged the senate races and put in a fony President Joe Biden. Joe Biden isn’t the problem it is his Vice President Kamala Harris, she will bring socialism into this free country. You see, mail in ballot votes are safer cause of COVID, we can’t voice opinions cause of COVID, we can’t live cause of COVID. It’s all fit into a plan to turn this country into China, the left have used COVID to get rid all that we have loved about this country. -
2021-01-11
Origin of Covid-19
When I first learned about the virus, I was told that it came from bats. And the first people that had contracted covid-19 had eaten bats that were sold at a market. I thought it was sad because people were dying from it. I also never thought it would be more than a couple of people that ate some bats and got the virus, I never thought it would become a world wide pandemic. I still believe that there is a virus and that masks effectively work. I know what you can do to prevent you from getting it. When I was first told about the virus, I was told that the flu was worse, in some cases that is true, but because there was no vaccine yet, and it can have also a larger long-term effect on some people. Also, I think that if our president put the entire country in a 4-week mandatory lock down where you were only allowed to leave your house for groceries, we would not be in this massive outbreak now. Also if all those anti-maskers just put a mask on and stopped saying that they have medical conditions that prevent them from wearing a mask, it could also be a lot better. Yes, there are certain medical conditions that prevent you from wearing a mask like a face burn, but if so just get your groceries delivered and stay home. Also if people stopped spreading lies that covid-19 is just a hoax, maybe some people would take it seriously and we would be in a much better situation. -

covid origins
At the first thought of the virus, I wasn't sure what to think. I heard many things like "Covid came from China" and "Covid has always been around but it just got worse now" and other things like, "Covid is fake". I thought that Covid wouldn't be as bad. and that it would be something like the flu. when more and more people started dying, I realized how bad it actually was. I believe that Covid has always been around in the world. That maybe its been in our air forever and something happened for it to get to this point. Covid is not fake. it is very much here, and in the air. I also believe that Covid started in a certain point of the world and was brought to a heavily populated area and spread from there. -

THE19 (Metaphor)
Imagine a hurricane approaches your beachfront community, a beautiful place of both cottages and mansions on heavenly stretching strands of sand and coconut trees. The storm started far out in the ocean as a tropical storm, an abstraction a week or more away. Then it developed into a category 2 as it approached the continent and crossed Cuba, still days away but becoming a concern. Before long, forecasts by experts confidently showed exactly where landfall would occur, the strength of the winds, the height of the surge, the flooding that would accompany it, the millions it would impact, the estimates of the extent of damage and disruption (and death tolls) predictable. You do the right thing and with your family and neighbors evacuate and move inland and find safe shelter. It’s inconvenient and uncomfortable at times, sharing and aiding your fellow refugees. They don’t have the brand of cereal and chocolate milk your kids like. They run out of Coke. But pitching in until it’s safe to go home seems the best and only course. And soon you’re glad you did because by the time the hurricane makes landfall the news come in that it is a Cat 5, indeed, “the second most intense tropical cyclone on record to strike the United States.” Imagine as you watch the pummeling rain and listen to the ominous wind and wait, you already know this story: “In 1969, Hurricane Camille claimed 259 victims along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Most were guilty of only being on the wrong place at the wrong time, unlike twenty who perished while attending a beachfront “hurricane party” beer bash and barbecue. Despite evacuation warnings delivered by vehement emergency teams [experts], their festivities continued unabated. The partygoers definitely declared that the concrete foundations and the second floor location of their party provided plenty of protection from the impending hurricane. Their confidence proved to be tragically misplaced when a twenty-four-foot wave slammed into the apartment, destroying the building and subjecting the partiers to gale-force winds and violent ocean surges. Most of these hurricane worshippers were killed. A few survivors were swept miles away, ….” (The Darwin Awards, 1999) Imagine you know there are old folks in your very own town who chose to stay. Folks who just couldn’t imagine leaving the idyllic homes in their idyllic locations where they have lived in for decades, and who have weathered previous storms and thinking this one too “isn’t that bad,” or thinking. “Unless it has my name on it, it won’t get me.” You pray for them. But you also know some who stayed defiantly, the young and strong, and the middle-aged but “free” who resented being told by anyone what to do--especially by “experts.” And some of those protestors (an alarming number of whom you know) raised the bar, rebelled blithely, partying practically on the beach, posting selfies and videos on Facebook as the storm intensifies--to prove it was safe. As final proof, a video is posted of an engorging wave, a wave as large as any building you could hide in, a dark seething mountain of water. The video records shrill, exhilarating, victorious whoops of glee of the partiers it approaches. Then nothing. Now imagine, immediately you are asked by experts to stay in your shelter a little while longer, not forever, but much longer than you had ever expected to stay. Why? you ask. We’ve been so good. We did everything we were asked. We deserve to go home. We’ve run out of Lucky Charms and Quick and Coke. Despite your pleas and imploring, the experts are firm. Because, they say, a second hurricane is already coming, practically on top of the first. It’s not a Cat 5, yet, but…. This is unimaginable. This wasn’t forecast before. But, it’s here now, the experts nod somberly. Enough is enough. Enough is enough. Enough is enough, you hear yourself say, but…. Finally, imagine, dozens and dozens of your neighbors, even members of your own family, saying, I can’t take it anymore. This is not my life. I haven’t had a beer or a Buffalo Wings in days. You watch them, so impatient and tired of waiting and angry for the fun they miss. You watch them rush back to the beach. W. K. Christmas in a pandemic.
This year many families were forced into changing traditions due to California lockdowns. My family did not agree with these lockdown orders and instead went on to host a normal Christmas like any other year. We had more decorations than ever, and we gave out presents to everyone. We went to church on Christmas eve, where it started raining while we were outside, and we visited our cousins and grandparents for a Christmas day dinner. Though we were putting ourselves at risk, everyone there agreed to be there and no one got the virus. My prayer goes out to those who had to scrap traditions for Covid, or just through overall fear. -

Corona Virus
When I first found out about Corona it was at school in art class when I overheard some kids talking about it. The next thing you know two days later the country was shutting down and we were preparing for online school. I though that this was very serious until my family did some of our own research on the virus. I realized that it was not as dangerous as we think, but that didn't stop my life from changing. My baseball season was cancelled and online school was beginning to take a toll on my mental health. The worst part is it seemed like there was no end. People would just believe whatever they were told and it kept the lockdown alive. At this point I was able to tell that almost all hope was lost after all the deadlines that were never carried out. Knowledge from school has just been going in and out and the media is keeping people scared. A virus with a 99.7 percent survival rate has taken over the world for 9 months and I don't know why. The arrival of covid has also left me wondering. If it is so bad then how come we can adjust? If people are really dying then why can we still do so many things? Does the virus just disappear during riots or at "peaceful protests". Corona coming into my life has left me confused, unmotivated, and in a pit. -

Alberta separation was always a bad idea, and COVID-19 has shown it’s never going to happen
But for Alberta’s separatist movement, it’s a major setback. That’s because, just as there are no atheists in foxholes, there won’t be many people who believe they’re better off on their own after this pandemic finally passes. As Albertans stare at the possibility of an economic downturn that’s reminiscent of the Great Depression, some of them are realizing they could use a little help from their friends – even the ones they don’t particularly like. -

COVID Thanksgiving
My family’s thanksgiving dinner wasn’t that much different than our other thanksgiving dinners. My family isn’t a big believer in COVID 19 because honestly it's just a flu. So, we envied our family, only one part of the family didn’t come because they are crazy COVID cautious. Other than that it was realistically normal. It was more relaxed than usual but it was nice. Covid is real but the response to it is worse than the sickness. I hope the other generations don’t have to deal with the government we have right now in California. -

Anti-maskers ought to be remembered, not because their position is valid, but because we need to remember that how some people acted against the interests of the general population. Often, historical narratives of humanitarian crises focus on this idea of "everyone banded together and we all helped everyone survive." But this is way too simple, and there is a sizable part of our society who did not work to help others survive. -

Before Covid-19
Before Covid-19 in the year 2020 in February I was going to school normally and not thinking much of the virus I heard of that was in China. I thought it was just a small virus and we continued with our daily life. A few days later as I was waking up and eating my cheerios for breakfast and I told my parents that the faculty of Oaks Christian Middle School was talking about closing the school for a week or two and they were telling me that we would find a cure for the virus and the school wouldn't close. I believed that nothing would change but as the time was coming nearer I realized that we would be quarantined for a few weeks. A few days later as we started preparing to have online school I was hopeful it would only be a few weeks and here I am 8 months later telling the story. -

It was a typical day for me. I had finished my homework and went to check my phone. I went scrolling through Tiktok but noticed something was off. There was a new virus in China all over Tiktok, so I felt the need to look it up. I did some research and realized how quickly it was spreading and to how to stay safe. -

My life in February. By Cory McEnroe
My life in February was normal and pleasant. I was starting the baseball season and wrapping up basketball during this time. I remember on Valentine's Day a couple of friends and I went to the mall to hang out and have some fun. We were running around not knowing it would be the last time we would be allowed to. I mean just think about a normal 13-year-old boy's life. It was the best time of my life in 7th grade. I would hop around with my two main friend groups and talk about what teenagers talk about, sports, sleep, weekends. My friend Easton would run around on campus going up to random people and well actually you never knew what he was about to do. That's what I love about my friends, always lively and enjoying life. My normal day looked like getting up at 7 then getting to school around 8 and hustling to first period. Then after listening to people talk about math or something like that go to the next class, until we got to break. When we got to break and had just about the most intense games of basketball that you have ever seen. After a couple more classes we did the same thing at lunch. Then after like two more classes, I think, we headed on down to the locker room to get changed for baseball. We always had clean practices, little to no errors, and great hitting. Then I would pretend to do homework when I got home then I would actually do homework. Then I was in bed by 11:00. Then on March 13 we showed up to school and people were talking everywhere and the teachers met in the pod to talk some more, we didn't know what was happening so we went with the genius idea to tell everyone to go home and buy toilet paper. When I heard that a virus from a bat was spreading from China I knew something was wrong. Really? They can do better. It actually came from a lab because in China there are 1.4 billion people and because they are a communist country they don't care about their people. Also, think about it, corona only affects older people or people with respiratory problems (mostly old people). Making you think yet? Put the pieces together. Comes from a government-run lab, kills off older people, 1.4 billion people, a communist country, population control. It didn't come from a bat, you people are being lied to, there is a safe, cheap cure; hydroxychloroquine. They don't want you to know that because they want you to rely on the government. Sounds a lot like socialism. People don't think about the facts (99.92% recovery by the way), they just trust whatever they are told, whether that be through social media, TV shows, news, and other platforms. Do you know who wants to divide, break down, and control? The government and the devil. The situation we are in now is making the government look like a savior to us. Because WE (we being the government) have the vaccine, WE can flatten the curve, WE can be together by staying apart. See what I'm saying with this? They are seeing how far they can push us. No normal life before this matters until we know what's happening now. If we the people don't do something about this we will never go back to normal. I know that it was supposed to be about normal life in February but I want the facts in the history books. -

Most Memorable Curations
As I have learned to curate for the Journal of the Plague Year Archive this semester, I have been exposed to the many stories of different types of people during this awful pandemic year of 2020. Of the many items that I have curated, quite a few really stood out to me, and I tried to narrow it down to just one, but I couldn’t, so I chose two. The reason these two items stood out to me, and why many did, was the fact that they were relatable and they were emotional. The first item that really stood out to me was submitted by a woman that talked about why the pandemic terrifies her. She talked about how sad it was to see people not taking this seriously, and how ignorant people were being. She also spoke about the violence, and the rush to buy an insane amount of items from the store to prepare for what felt like an apocalypse. The part that got me was at the end, she discussed how she had been furloughed in her company and she had no source of income, so she had to move into an apartment. You could really tell how scared and stressed she was just by reading it. I could really feel her emotions and it really made me sit back and think about how many innocent people are being put through such hell. The second item that really stood out to me was submitted by a woman whose mother was in a nursing home. There was a picture submitted with the text that showed her mother peeking through her window. Nursing homes are among the many businesses that are very strict and are taking extra precautionary measures, so her mother is not allowed to have any visitors, only through a window. Her mother is 98 years old, and it saddens her to not be able to see her mother, especially not knowing when the next time she will be able to. I can personally relate to this because my grandma lives in a nursing home back in my hometown of Lewiston, ID. It is hard enough to live so far away and not be able to see her, but now I am not even allowed to see her when I visit home. It has been a hard year for my family because my grandma has dementia, and not being able to visit her cuts even deeper. My mother has especially had a rough year, because she has to sit and wait to see her mom, not knowing when that will be.
