  Rainy Days

  Rainy days seem to be the worst for my family. Especially on the weekend. Over the weekends my family tries to stay outside for as long as we can. But when it is raining however, that is when the cabin fever starts to kick in. We feel like we are all crammed in the house together and there is no where to go. We end up spending the day in our own corner of the house and then just come together for dinner or if we want to watch something as a family. These days are not that bad during the work week, it just makes it hard to get work done. On rainy days I just want to wrap up in a blanket and watch a movie. When the day is not all gray and rainy, my parents and I love to sit out on our back porch and play with our dog. It feels like we are getting away from the house, even though we are still at home. We talk to our neighbors and we have even made smores with the family down the street. It is the little things like that, that make quarantine a little more fun.

  When I was shopping in Target, people were in and out of the aisles grabbing whatever food they could get. I walked through all the aisles to see what was available. I had to call my parents multiple times to see if they were okay with substitutions. *I (Annika Morton) took this photo while I was shopping.

  Late-Night Talks

  Ever since the Coronavirus has taken over the country, everyone has been on lockdown in their homes. These past few weeks have turned into a swarm of conference calls, virtual happy hours, and late-night video chats. It has made me miss my friends even more than I thought I would. Don’t get me wrong, it has made me thankful for my family as well. It is hard to not be able to see my friends and peers every day, like what I am used to. One of my friends who lives in Virginia has been feeling a little bit lonely too, so we have been talking every night for a couple nights in a row. We talk about everything under the sun. We talk about religion, different jobs, and what the world will be like after this pandemic is over. We also share our favorite memories from school, reminisce on old memories from previous years, and we talk about whatever is on our mind. Even though we are not together in person, it feels like we are hanging out like we normally would. Talking online is going to be the new normal for teenagers like me, who cannot go out and see friends. Having people to talk to online makes me feel like I am not alone in this crazy world we are living in right now. Everyone else is dealing with the same thing, and we are all in this together.
