Statistics and Thoughts
I find that many people are comparing California to other states and freaking out because California has the most cases and deaths, but that is to be expected. People don't take into account the fact that California has the largest population out of all the other states. Recently, there has been a large spike, but that is because of the fact that it is winter. It is colder, so people are gathering inside more, and the sun isn't as direct, so COVID-19 is spreading more. But when spring comes, the spike will go down. In fact, the spike is already beginning to drop, and once next winter comes around, people will have been vaccinated and more people will have gotten it, and things will hopefully get better and restrictions will go away. -

COVID restrictions
I have followed the protocols and restrictions as best I can, but there are always people who think we're not doing enough. One story was when my grandmother was shopping, and when she got out of the store, she took her mask off. Someone saw her with here mask off while she was putting her groceries in her car, and someone doing the same near her saw someone wearing a mask and walking by, and he said rather loudly (so my grandmother could hear him), "Oh good, you're wearing a mask. Some people don't." My grandmother almost walked over to the man and said, "Oh, you mean this mask?" waving her mask around. This is an example of people passively shaming people, and I do not like that. -

Origin of COVID-19
I came back from Christmas break and I heard rumors of a virus in China. At first I did not believe it, but after I asked my dad, and he said that it was an actual thing. I was not afraid of it and I still am not, but there are many people who are terrified of it. After about a month, people started saying it was in California. This was confirmed when we went to online school. I did not enjoy it. It was the first year that I needed to work on my computer to do assignments, and having to do everything on my computer was a challenge, but I was able to figure it out and learned a lot more about computer usage. -

Thanksgiving 2020
This year's thanksgiving was not very different from other years. The only difference was that my mom's sister and her family did not come due to COVID-19. Everything else was the same. We had turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, and Martinelli's. It didn't seem all that different this year.
