I Just Want A Hug
I just want a hug. Nothing means more to me right now in the time of crisis than a hug. I am not much of a hugger. By me saying that I want a hug, that must mean something. It is strange to go visit your family and having to stay more than 6 feet away from them. Overnight we went from being able to hang out with our elderly family members to now not being able to hug them. I miss hearing my great-aunt say, “Give me some sugar” when she wants a hug. I miss being able to see my extended family. I miss being able to go over and hear stories about their life. I feel that the coronavirus has taken time away from that! I just want to shop. I want to be able to go to the store without just going to get groceries. It happened overnight. I miss being able to shop. I don't even want to buy anything. I just want to go look. I have only been able to shop online. I will not buy anything online, but it’s nice to know that if I ever wanted to buy a $100 blanket, I know where to find one. I want to go to Ross and Goodwill. I mis being able to just walk in the malls. It has been a month! It may not sound like a long time, or like I have an addiction, but trust me, it is hard when your life comes to a halting stop. Not shopping with friends is hard. We would go at least once a month. We just shopped to shop. Sometimes we went shopping for my apartment or for clothes, but now we can't do that. Before the quarantine, I would hang out with my friends at least once a week. Now we have not physically hung out for a month, which has been very hard. -

People Swarm Toliet Paper at Local Sam's Club
I walked to the back of the store where they keep the toilet paper and saw that the worker was bringing out toilet paper on a pallet. I looked around to see that people were literally swarming this man. As soon as he let down the pallet and walked away they crowded the pallet and starting grabbing. It was such a crazy sight to see. I had to take a picture. This just shows that we value toilet paper. -

How My Internship Was Affected
During my Spring 2020 semester at Arizona State University, I was able to become an intern at the Tempe History Museum which is located at 809 E Southern Ave, Tempe, AZ 85282. Due to the pandemic I have been unable to attend the museum which put me in jeopardy of earning credit for it. This added more stress than I needed. For me to get the credit I had to have 135 credits by the end and I was sitting at 60 credits. MY thoughts went into downward spiral . All the 'what ifs' started running through my head. I thought that if I do not get my credit I could not graduate on time, if I can't graduate on time it could prevent me from being able to get a job, without a job I would have no money, with no money I could not pay the bill. It just kept getting worse and worse as I started to think about it. I emailed my advisor and she told me to try and find a remote project. Lucky enough we were doing this project that this journal is located on. I was looking forward to being able to gain experience that would help with me a future career and because of this pandemic that has all been put on hold. I was able to attend the internship before the pandemic and it was the highlight of me my week. I am actually doing something with my life that help better the future. Now that I am not doing that I am kinda losing my mind. We as humans are very routine based creatures and for that routine to be interrupted we tend to freak out. Well for me anyway. I feel like people are not taking this pandemic seriously. They are just going about their normal days as if nothing is going on. Yesterday March 30, 2020, our Governor Doug Ducey declared a stay at home order. This being said all non-essential places would be shut down until at least April 30,2020. Having the stay at home order is really going to make me able to go to the movies, go out to eat, go to museums but especially being able to hang out with friends. Being a non-essential business has really made me mad that I am not able to learn from people that I enjoy being with. I enjoy going to the museum and now that it is taken away for a short period of time I am not gaining any experiences in the museum. We do not know how long this pandemic will last. We are hoping it will end soon. We are hoping that this will all be over by August 2020. -

COVID-19 Journal
I am very uncertain as to what to write in these journal entries or what people will want to see years from now when they are learning about the COVID-19 pandemic. I don’t know if anyone will even read this. I have never kept a journal or log, but with the events going on in the world right now I feel like I should. Being a history major I feel like this is a perfect way to preserve something that people will read and learn about years from now. There is a lot of uncertainty in the world at the moment. There are people getting laid off from their jobs because they do not want to work to shelter themselves from the virus. We are all supposed to be in quarantine but I feel like people are not taking seriously. Today at work people were just coming in to get out of the house. -

Petsmart moves pick up orders to curbside
Being an employee of Petsmart, I have seen changes in the way that we operation on a daily basis. One example is how we do online pick up orders. On March 21, 2020, we moved all online pick orders to curb side pick order. Pet parents pull in to the designated parking spot, call the store, and then the associate that was designated the curbside pick up orders for the day, would answer the phone. We must ask for their name and then indicate on the iPad that they have picked up their order. We have started doing this to lower the foot traffic in the store. This is something that not only us as employees have to get use to but the pet parents as well.
