Mining Company Mishandles Coronavirus Among Its Workers
The safety and health of workers is at the top of a long list of concerns as countries across the globe try to reopen safely while still combatting the pandemic. In Mexico, Don David Gold México has been hiding information about the status of its workers and has been stifling any discussion about the status of workers as it relates to the coronavirus. Workers are demanding that the government step in to handle the situation, starting with tests for workers -

Workers Call for the Resignation of Moises Bailon
The way that worker safety and funding is handled is always an issue for government run health organization, and in a pandemic it is all the more important. In Oaxaca, at the IMSS workers have called for the resignation of their director, Moisés Sidharta Bailón Jiménez, because of improper handling of both internal affairs and funds during the pandemic. -

Express Oaxaca Updates
Municipal Markets have a huge place in Latin American culture. They are not only a place to buy the necessities that are needed day to day, but also a place to socialize, gossip, and connect with one's community. This tweet announces that one of the markets in the community of Oaxaca in Mexico is closing so that it can be sanitized and then cleaned to minimize the risk of Covid-19 -

Doctors and Protests
In the middle of a national public health crisis, a national racial crisis also occurred. As doctors and healthcare workers around the world work to save people, protests and large social gatherings seem as though they would be a new nightmare. Instead, numerous healthcare professionals have come out in support of the protests; they highlight that racism, just like coronavirus, is as huge national health issue. It is a discussion that highlights just how important it is to get it right in solving racism and addressing the systemic issues that plague this country. -

Changing FDA Drug guidelines
The FDA, the President, and the American public has had a tense relationship with hydroxychloroquine since it was first hailed as a potential cure for the coronavirus. The president has said that he takes it himself, that it can produce very good results, and other claims in a similar vein. The FDA has taken a step that pushes back on this narrative, pulling emergency usage of the drug and stating that it does not have serious applicability as a potential cure. -

CDC and Protests
With the eruption of protests after the death of George Floyd, coronavirus did not take a break. It is still a primary health concern, but has taken a backseat to racism and systemic oppression that is afflicting the U.S. In this article, the CDC is urging social gatherings that are for protests to follow a certain set of guidelines. The twitter user points out the hypocrisy present in both the lack of discussion on the President's proposed politcal gatherings, as well as the lack of recommendations when individuals were protesting to reopen the country -

Face Masks are Everywhere
People are growing exasperated with the mercurial nature of the safety guidelines that are being provided by both state and local governments. Combined with a reopening plan that is different in every state, the average citizen is frustrated about what they can, and can not do. What will be safe, and what won't be safe moving forward? When should we wear masks and when do we not need to? -

Coronavirus humour
With everything that we have to be afraid of in the current day, a bit of humour helps to lighten the mood. Someone edited a Daily Mail article, changing germs to germans, as one of the things that can be spread when someone coughs. -

Rest of the World asking for U.S. help
The rest of the world collectively decided that coronavirus is the most important thing that is happening at the moment, and that it will take a global response to get things under control. The U.S., as part of the global community, was supposed to chip in and do its share to flatten the curve and get things under control. We also just happen to be trying to dismantle systemic racism at the same time. -

A Tale of Three Responses
There seems to be three separate stories occurring in the world right now. America is currently trying to reopen across the various states, while also confronting its' systemic racial issues. This has generally created chaos across the board both locally and nationally. Europe, and large parts of the world, are trying to handle their own coronavirus issues and wondering what is happening in America. China is trying to alter the narrative on its handling of the coronavirus and probably grateful that the U.S. has provided a distraction. -

Covid vs. Racial Tensions
In the middle of America trying to mismanage its Covid-19 response, racial tensions have bubbled over after the death of George Floyd. As the entire country shifts its focus towards the protests, we all seem to be collectively forgetting that there still is a health crisis occurring at the same time. America has a lot on its plate right now. -

The Perfect Storm
2020 has offered up a number of crises back to back without any break in between. We started with a global health crisis that eventually caused the economy to suffer and millions to lose their jobs. In the middle of the fight over whether or not we were opening too fast, a racial crisis occurred over the death of George Floyd. Halfway through June, I don't know what else to expect from the remainder of the year. -

Reopening Surprises
As states rushed to reopen, there were multiple warning signals put up by scientists and concerned citizens about the unforeseen consequences. There was a reassurance by politicans and those in positions of power that things would be handled properly, and that the idea of a second wave was a ridiculous thought. As states have reopened, cases have surged, and I don't think that I am the only that is not surprised. -

Grocery Store Reminders
Grocery stores have altered the way that their stores function to accommodate for the new guidelines put out by the CDC. At the local Stater Bros store, this mean plastic barriers at all registers, tape on the floor to show proper social distancing, and the halt of the usage of reusable bags brought by the customer -

Dreams in Quarantine
I normally don't remember my dreams, but since quarantine has started I've either been having weird dreams or have just not been sleeping well at all. After speaking with friends and family to see if they have experienced something similar, it seems to be across the board that everyone's sleep patterns have changed. In doing some research, apparently it's enough of a noticeable impact that scientists are investigating what is happening. -

Looking Back on the Beginning of Quarantine
When the various stay at home orders were announced around the middle of March, I was optimistic that things hopefully would be managed in a fairly quick manner. Working from home, extra time to work on hobbies, zoom meetings, and the opportunity to drive less all seemed appealing. As time wore on, and various factors and wrong decisions meant that we did not as a country have this under control, staying at home lost its appeal. I don't think anyone wants to do this anymore. -

New Restaurant Rules
From the inception of the coronavirus crisis, businesses across the spectrum have had to adapt their operating procedures. For restaurants, this proved to be a tricky adaptation. As dining halls closed across the world, restaurants moved towards offering curbside pickup for almost anything that they sold; this included alcoholic beverages. Now, it is not unusual to see advertisements offering up a full pitcher of margaritas or the like, able to be ordered and picked up curbside. -

Travel Restriction Humour
This meme is poking fun at all of the people, myself included, who include their travels as a defining part of their lives. Hospital Beds in the City
While coronavirus is a horror unique to itself, there are also ripple effects caused by the stress that it is putting on the healthcare system. This manifests itself in hospitals being unable to cope with regular, daily issues; for Baltimore, this is gunshot victims that are either occupying beds that could be used by coronavirus victims, or vice versa. -

Reopening Perspectives
As States and businesses across the country reopen, there appears to be a divide on what is best practice. One camp is of the opinion that we should go back to how we were pre-quarantine, and should treat the virus as something that has passed. The other camp desires a reopening that is done cautiously, guided by medical/scientific data. Memes are reflecting the divide. -

As California, and more specifically Orange County, transitions into the various reopening stages, stores are adapting their standard business practices to be in line with the health orders. Boston College, like many other universities across the world, was forced to close prematurely due to safety concerns over the potential spread of coronavirus. Front Door Banners
Various grocery stores have implemented additional safety policies as the pandemic has worn on in Orange County. At the outset of California's quarantine there was a limit of one in, one out at this particular store. That has been amended, and now there are various markers throughout the store emphasizing: social distancing, not unnecessarily touching things, safety guidelines, and a banner of appreciation for people that continue to shop. *Joey Dorion took the photograph *Photograph of banners -

Finding Alternative Ways to Exercise
As the pandemic first began to spread and garner attention, gyms in Orange remained open. At the beginning of March, I first began to notice that the number of people in the gym during peak hours was beginning to decline. Hours were still the same, but the staff also took up the practice of roaming throughout the gym with disinfectant and paper towels, trying to clean down each machine after it was used. On March 17th Governor Newsom declared a statewide stay at home order, and when I tried to get one last workout in I came across this sign. *Original text in Creator: Fitness-19 posted the sign *Original text in Contributor: Joey Dorion took the photo -

About Sar Cov-2
Before the pandemic had morphed into its current situation, Sarah Munro, a student at Columbia's School of Public Health, created an overview that was shared with friends and family members. It was meant to provide a resource to answer basic questions such as: how long will this last, should I wear a mask, etc. Although she is not a doctor, she is studying epidemiology and other related fields concerning diseases. Her belief was that some information is better than no information. Sarah Munro is the original author, Joey Dorion is publishing per her request Early March, exact date unknown -
