China's Animal Shelters Can't Cope With the Number of Pets Abandoned Due to COVID-19

Due to misinformation and fear that COVID-19 could be spread via animals, a substantial number of pets in effected Chinese cities have been abandoned or euthanized. Animal shelters in the country report they are overwhelmed with the number of animals which now need care. Current research suggests that pets are unable to contract the COVID-19 virus, but fear and panic have gripped the citizens of the nation. -
