Covid statistics
Just today, 15,846 people died from Covid-19. In worldwide total, 2.15 million people have died so far. With 99.9 million people testing positive so far, you never know who will get it next. Currently there are 42.65 million people worldwide contaminated with Covid, a quarter of which are close to death, this is why its important to wear a face covering and keep up good hygiene. Even if your loved ones aren't high risk, you never know what the person you passed in the pasta isle could be going through. Hospitals around the world have had to convert their services to caring for Covid victims alone, leaving medical care scarce for people in need. -

Symptoms
Covid-19 has a wide range of symptoms. Some people can become very sick and even in need of oxygen machines, while others would have no clue they've contracted the virus at all. For example, my. aunt , uncle, and cousin all tested positive and none of their experiences were alike. My uncle was almost in the hospital with difficulty breathing, loss of taste and smell, and more. My aunt was coughing but other than that fine. The baby was extremely cranky but without any other symptoms. This proves how wide the range of symptoms really are. -

Remote Learning
I had stared virtual learning with a good mindset... I would get to be home all day, have no homework, and do whatever I wanted to. I very quickly realized that was not the case, I was occupied with siblings and pets all day, had at least double the work, and spent most of my day on a device. Honestly online school has been horrible. I resorted to social media as my only distraction, I would scroll through TikTok for hours; I related to a lot of creators which brought me some hope that I wasn't the only one with the feeling of drifting away from society, but the second I put my phone down it all came fooding back. Eventually this new lifestyle was normalized and I was numb. If I had to name this chapter of my childhood, it would be loop. Every single day was the exact same pointless routine, I was wasting my life almost. I have learned a lot learning remotely, and am in a way grateful, but also disappointed, yet still very confused about my final take on things. I changed a lot, but I think for the better. Lost and made friendships. Cried and laughed both a great amount of times. Felt nothing. Felt everything. -

Christmas during COVID-19
Christmas this year was different because of multiple different reasons; the most obvious change due to the pandemic was that we didn't travel with friends and family like we usually do. Cancelling a huge tradition is obviously going to affect people, the holidays just didn't feel right. They went by quicker than usual and felt like it had never happened by the next day. My family tried to get as festive as possible but nothing was working to get in the holiday spirit. The holidays were definitely different but could've been way worse. -

Something Not to be Grateful For
My thanksgiving this year was different than what I’m used to; my family has always had large gatherings at a grandparents’ house. This year it was just us, we made a small meal and had fun but it felt off without my entire loud crazy family.
