Symptoms of Covid
The first symptoms of covid that I heard about was lost sense of taste and smell. After that I heard one of the symptoms was fatigue and shortness of breath. Then it was fever, cough, headache, vomiting, and sore throat. I also heard about diarrhea, muscle aches, and runny nose. The worst symptoms I heard about was pain in the chest, bluish lip or face, and difficulty breathing. -

Someone testing Positive
One of my friends tested positive for Covid. One day, I was playing video games with my group of friends. The particular friend who had Covid I had not talked to for a while. I playfully yelled his name and asked where he had been. He merely stated that he was asymptomatic and he got Covid a couple months ago. I was quite shocked. I had not heard a word of this before hand so I was not expecting this. He just blew it off and we started playing games. No more talk of the virus happened and no questions were really asked. -

Rules and Procedures in 2020
Some of the rules we have to follow are we have to stay six feet apart from everyone. We also had a curfew sometimes. We were not allowed outside of our houses (except for taking walks or anything necessary) and restauraunts were closed. -

Rules and Procedures 2020
Some rules and procedures are you wear a mask at all times, stay six feet apart, and stay home. At first I was annoyed with masks because they were uncomfortable but I got used to them. Staying home was fine except I missed my friends. Now we can zoom its not the same as in person but, its still very fun. -

New Hobby Discovered
My name is Annie Nguyen and during quarantine, I have discovered my love for painting. I soon developed a talent for painting over the months and I curated this skill using the hours freed up by the pandemic. Locked indoors, I had nothing but free time. With free time to spend, I devoted all that time to painting characters from anime series and beloved movies. At first, I would display these painting on my bed mantle. However, I would soon run out of room as I painted more! Then I thought of the genius idea to assemble them as a collage on the side of my dresser. Now as I look at these painting, I am reminded of the positive of this pandemic. -

My virtual learning experience
My virtual learning experience was not unique, I imagine, consisting of waking up about five minutes before school started, sitting through a class while watching endless hours of youtube, making myself breakfast during my break, and the occasional going to water polo after three more classes. Though I have always thought that school lacked challenge, virtual learning bored me out of my mind, I could not stand it. -

Remote School
I am a middle schooler. In the middle of march, online school started because of the pandemic. This was a very significant change compared to normal school. There were some pros and cons to having online. Some advantages were sleeping in. Even though it was only like an extra 30 min to an hour, it was still nice. Another advantage was more free time. All that time spent driving and moving to classes was non-existent. Now for the disadvantages. Many people agree with me that it sucked not seeing any friends. My human interaction was very, very limited. Other than my family and when I went outside toe exercise, I didn't see anyone. Also, wifi can be a serious issue. Any bad internet makes learning incredibly hard. I did still talk to my friends very often on things like discord but it is not the same as seeing them in person. My daily routine was go to school, exercise and play video games. My life did not consist of much more than that till summer. Eventually, I started having my sports practice again, but that was not till after summer, and it was still restricted in many ways. -

Learning online
Learning online is much harder than usual, because it is much easier to not listen. Sure we are learning the same stuff as in school, but all the fun aspects of school disappear during online. That makes me have no motivation to learn. However I also like it because it gives me a bunch of free time to do art and stuff. Overall i like normal school more. -

Virtual Learning
I didn't have too many problems with virtual learning other then how much more boring it was compared to regular school. the only good thing is that e would get more break time if we finish work early so i would get a lot more free time then I regularly would. but the classes were basically me just sitting there. there also a lot less interaction with people that was not virtual. -

journal of the plague year remote learning
Remote learning has been super different compared to pre-covid learning in good and bad ways. First of all it is good because there are longer breaks and in between classes, you can go take a short nap or get some food or play video games. Also you can do school in your sleeping clothes. However it is really bad because they give 5x more work, and class periods are twice as long now! Also it is really hard to learn things, I had to enroll myself in tutoring for the first time. Those are the benifits and bad things of online school. -

virtual learning
This year because of covid most of the students had to do virtual learning. I personally love doing online school, because I'm a lazy person. When you wake up everyday, you only need to open up your computer and login on to zoom. But for regular school I had to wake up at 6 every single day because I live far away from my school, this isn’t fun at all. And another thing l love for online school is that you can eat during classes and on one will see it, at school if you got caught eating during class, you will definitely get in trouble. -

How I first Found out about the New Plague
I first found out about COVID was from my former science teacher. We had been talking about viruses and someone had mentioned the word "coronavirus" well all thought this would just be another virus that would just come and go. We were told that covid initially came from a snake in China and it would never travel to the US and we would be fine. Now my knowledge from what we learned I really don't trust any government with heir telling of the story because each one if different. This experience really has changed me and a person and who I really trust in many things. -

What I think about who/what caused Covid-19
I think that the cause of covid-19 is that the covid virus mutated in an unexpected way, and people didn't realize that they had it, and brought it to other countries. Then it spread throughout the world, becoming a rather deadly virus, but we don't really know, because the statistics are so skewd. -

story from elda chen
My christmas this year is same as those before, probably because I’m not a native american, my family don’t care much about christmas, but covid still made this year a lot harder for me personally, because of covid I Couldn’t get back to china during break, my dad and my grandmother were in china, I used to go back every year, but not this year. My daily life is also very inconvenient, because my family lives on the hill and we rarely go out. Covid restricts many opportunities for me to get out and have fun. -

Places of Silence
Places of Silence Artists’ Statement The cataclysmic situation caused by the Covid-19 has created a new reality for people. Society faces disastrous effects of unprecedent pandemic: losses of the human lives, loneliness, luck of personal interaction, anxiety, feeling hopeless. Visiting our favorite places, we were struck by the scarce silence of the streets, abandoned buildings, gardens. We saw the familiar places from entirely different perspective - they were silent. Spacious grounds, the ocean coast, paths in the sand were without the usual addition - a man. Our ongoing project “Places of Silence” reflects our personal experience in this new reality. Another aspect of the project is depicting the sublime beauty of landscapes surrounding us. We feel that looking at nature brings a balance and hope, as well as leads to the self-reflection, understanding oneself, and one's responsibility to other people. The project consists of ten large scale mixed media paintings on canvases and more then eighty works on paper. We have chosen paper as the integral material for the series. The origin of paper is directly related to nature. Its texture and brittleness reflect the amazing vitality and fragility of the nature. We applied black acrylic paint on the traditional oriental rice paper creating the palette of different hues and then attached small pieces of paper to the canvas the same way as if we would be using paint. Dense layers, lumps of liquid mass soaked in water, monochrome colors, an endless gradation from black to white allow us to create rich Earth like surface for our landscape works. -

Re-Open Saskatchewan
An essential element of our province's plan to battle COVID-19 was widespread testing of residents along with the implementation of preventative measures, such as handwashing and physical distancing. This has enabled us to manage and flatten the curve, as well as strengthen the capacity of our health care system. Another important aspect of this approach was to develop a plan that would eventually allow Saskatchewan residents and our provincial economy to emerge from isolation. -

My NU.in Experience
Covid caused my NU.in experience to be different than it was supposed to be. I was supposed to go abroad and experience the world in a new way. I found out in February that I was accepted into the NU.in program. I was excited yet apprehensive because of the great opportunities that had just been placed in front of me. I decided to attend Northeastern in late April so I knew that I would not be going abroad. As September approached, I grew increasingly nervous, I moved into a hotel, twenty minutes from campus, and had to follow a bunch of safety precautions. I did not expect my first semester of college to go the way it did. I never expected to be wearing a mask or be so worried about what I touched. I never imagined that I would have to be tested for a disease once every three days. I quickly grew to find my new normal at the start of the semester after finishing my initial quarantine. I made socially distanced friends over zoom calls and we met up for lunch but stayed six feet away from each other. This was how I met many of my friends. I decided to keep a journal to document everything that was happening during these difficult times. At the end of the day once I had taken my mask off and washed my hands I would write about my day and how it was different from what I had once done. Dining was an interesting experience to navigate. Only a certain amount of people were allowed into the dining hall at a certain time so there were usually long lines to get into the dining hall to eat. At first, all the dining halls were takeout only. As the semester progressed, sit down options were allowed. To allow for social distancing, signs were posted on the tables to tell students how many people were allowed to sit at each table and there were people around to enforce these rules. While waiting in line to get food, everyone has to stand on a marker on the floor indicating six feet of distance to be safe and everyone is required to keep their masks on. These experiences have shaped my time in Boston. I have been able to have a safer experience during my first semester of college thanks to Northeastern’s guidelines. I have also been able to watch out for myself and others because I know that I am being tested and those that I am around are also being tested on a regular basis. Overall, being on a college campus that is so conscientious about Covid has helped shaped my understanding and has helped me be safer as well. -

What COVID has been like.

The Pandemic Shown Through Spongebob
This particular screenshot of an episode shows Squidward looking through his blinds at Spongebob and Patrick as they seem to be enjoying themselves and having fun. So, the reason why I decided this best expressed my experiences during the pandemic is because it shows mine and many others efforts to stay-at-home to lessen the spread of COVID-19. I remember the first time when the pandemic affected me. I was a member of the Ventura College History Association and we were having a meeting around mid-March of 2020. There were rumors that the college was gonna shut down due to the pandemic worsening, even some of my professors warned us about the potential of having to switch to online classes. So, during the meeting, the advisor of the association received an email stating that the college was indeed gonna close the campus and switch to online classes. This was the moment when I first realized how serious the pandemic was getting. So of course from this point on, many people and I have been adhering to the guidelines and restrictions that have been placed to stem the tide of the outbreak. Meanwhile, those who ignore the guidelines go outside and sometimes don’t take the necessary precautionary measures like mask wearing or social distancing risk getting infected with COVID-19 and risk infecting others who may be at a higher risk of the disease. I’ve personally only met with friends about twice during the whole duration of the pandemic when it was a bit safer to finally hang out with them, albeit with social distancing and mask wearing of course. Now with the rise in cases going up exponentially, especially as the United States is entering winter which could potentially increase the spread of the disease, we have been issued a new stay-at-home order here in our region of California. But again, the cycle of those adhering to the guidelines and those who don’t has been repeating again. -

COVID Effects on Masconomo Park, Manchester Ma.
Masconomo Park is a place where family and friends spend most time of their afternoon to interact with the public and have a healthy social environment. During the summer, the park would host bands, ice cream tables, face painting and a movie night for everyone. Many tourists would come to town to experience socially the interactions and activities offered by the town and appreciate the beauty of the harbor. During the Tuesday movie nights, a projection screen would be placed in the center of the park and everyone would bring their chairs, blankets, and snacks for a cozy movie night with family and friends. The Park was one of the most populated point of the town until the outbreak happened. Masconomo has not been the same since the outbreak of COVID-19. As you can see in the photos below of before and after the pandemic, the contrasts are enormous. The silence of Masconomo Park is louder than the fun summer nights the citizens used to have. Now the emptiness has taken over and no one can interact in the public space anymore. The park has been closed for a long period of time and citizens were not allowed to share the field for their own health safety. Once everything goes back to normal as we all hope, we cannot wait to spend engaging times at the park as we used to. For now, we just have to remain social distancing and virtually connecting for mental and physical health of the citizens.
