The Covid Virus
I learned that the cause of the covid virus was that someone ate a bat in China. I was confused because I was like why would someone want to eat a bat. My opinions haven't changed because I'm still confused on why someone would want to eat a bat. Once that person ate the bat and they spread their germs with other people than the whole world got it. It is crazy how one person got it and now the whole world has it. -

My Life in February before COVID-19
My name is Athena Errico and I am an 8th grade student at Oaks Christian currently, but at the time I was in seventh grade. It was January-February, I love to ski and I have been skiing my whole life, recently I have been trying to get into racing. I had just heard of the corona outbreak in China and was instantly worried. I had my first compition coming up for skiing and my parents told me I couldnt go because it was Chinese New Year and many people from China go to that specific ski mountain every year to celebrate. A few weeks later at school I had heard about schools in the area shutting down due to corona. Then about a week later I noticed my teachers canceling quizzes and giving very little homework. At lunch many off the kids talked about corona and the group of people who went with a teacher named Mrs. Hacker to Italy over break, there where roomers they all got COVID. Then a girl was not in school and many poeple thought she had COVID. Thats when I new things where going to change. COVID! COVID! COVID! that was all anyone ever talked about. Soon my parents wouldnt let me go to the grocery stores with them and wouldn't let me go to friends houses unless they new the parents well. Then my school shut down and that's when everything got really strange. -

A review handout about covirus for Highschool biology
It is a review handout for high school biology about the knowledge that can be applied to covirus. It is a indication of the shifting of the social attention to the virus and it also urges us to understand and learn about the virus instead of just fearing it. -

Lockdown in Chinese villages
When the coronavirus broke out in China in January, the small villages acted very quickly for lockdown. Only the local people of that village could enter, and there are large roadblocks and serious checks before the cars or people could enter that village. The leaders of those villages will broadcast for the villager that they should stay at home every day. -

Self isolation before it was labeled a pandemic
I'm an American living abroad in China, so we went through the pandemic a bit before everyone else. After I'd spent twenty five days in Hong Kong (originally intended to be a nine day holiday for Chinese New Year) with my boyfriend, we flew back to Shanghai because things seemed to be getting better over here. Regardless, we still came back to a lot of uncertainty. We were assuming that his apartment complex would be enforcing a stricter lockdown than mine (at this point, basically each apartment complex and neighborhood were setting their own rules). What I didn't expect was for me to be the one "trapped" at home and feeling anxious about the situation unfolding. As I eventually calmed my nerves, I decided to start channeling the anxiety into creative channels such as cooking and also this bullet journal. In many ways, these two hobbies have been incredibly therapeutic as they provide a way for me to feel like I have some sort of control when in reality, who knows what will happen? With time, I've been able to see how lucky we were here in Shanghai to have escaped the worst of the pandemic, but that same anxiety and not knowing what will change, how long this will last, etc continues as the virus rages on around the world. -

Parent's request for COVID-19
Parents are always more concerned about COVID-19 than students, especially when their children are oversea.
