540 Club, San Francisco
A sign on the door of the 540 Club, a dive bar in the Inner Richmond district of San Francisco. This picture was taken the day after the city issued its stay at home order. Many businesses throughout the city put up signs thanking their customers and hoping they come back when the pandemic was over, but this one really captured the spirit of the time (and of the bar!). -

Call for More Attention to Covid-19 Impact on American Indian Communities
"In the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic, tribal nations – comprised of some of the most vulnerable communities in the United States – have been left out of the conversation. As the COVID-19 pandemic has now reached all 50 states, tribal governments also face heightened challenges to protect their citizens, and have inadequate federal funding and resources to do so." #IndigenousStories -

Close the Churches
Churches have had to close worldwide due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For many religions, there is a necessity to get together in groups, worship together, and even celebrate religious events. Due to these restrictions, many are now having their right of practicing religion taken away from them. There are legal actions that have been taken in the past, when considering if churches should listen and follow state or federal claims. -

Cellar Door Wine Bar
This image is one that has been shared by a bar in the Chicago suburbs, showing thanks to people for supporting small business. I find it interesting because the business does not know that the reader of this sign has in fact supported small, local businesses. Instead, it reads like when your mom says “thanks for unloading the dishwasher” as a way of asking you to unload the dishwasher. #DePaulHST391 -

Test subject N.
Just like everyone, I got a pinkish colored liquid in a tube and lined up to enter the tent. There two steps to the test. One is a mouth swab, close to the throat. The second one is a nostril swab, which was very uncomfortable. -

Food?
Everyone was starving at about 10 pm. There weren't any shops at the airport, and all we could get was water. Dinner came to me in a cheap plastic bag. There's this pot of instant noodles, two bottles of water, and a packet of sliced bread. -

This is the "Minhang" banner, the area that I live in. Seeing the banner gives me comfort and relief. I feel another step closer to home. We waited here for three hours as more people filled the waiting area. After this, we were taken to the bus to head to the hotel for further COVID19 testing. -

Pudong, Shanghai airport, awaiting bus 2020
After the tiresome testings and form fillings, I was lead to the side doors of the airport, The blue banners mark different districts and areas in shanghai, and I followed the path towards my area: Minhang. In the waiting area, almost everyone had a facial mask on and showed no skin except for the face. Some passengers even wore a one-piece white "sheet cover", usually seen worn by hospital staff. -

Hollywood Walk Of Fame
During March, my collogues and I went to California for spring break. At that time, COV-19 was on the rise, knowing this, I was expecting to see less people when we visited Hollywood walk of fame. BART police officers wear face masks while investigating a deceased male discovered outside the Lake Merritt BART station in Oakland on Wednesday March 18th
This photo was taken in Oakland, California and includes two police offices wearing face masks in order to protect themselves from the coronavirus and other airborne things that may be detrimental to them. Although there is a pandemic going on the police must continue serving the community. Many would argue that the police are not giving enough resources or materials to continue to do so effectively. -

Health, Healing, and the Coronavirus
The “Found Conscious” Facebook page shared a video in which Thomas Cowan, MD describes the coronavirus pandemic in terms of his healing philosophy, claiming its related to 5G technology and metals. Within a week, Facebook reported more than 300,000 shares of this particular video. In the wake of ongoing concerns about “fake news,” social media platforms, including Facebook, have taken moves to censor expression. In this case, Facebook describes the presentation with a notice that it contains “False Information,” as checked by independent fact checkers. (See, for instance, the report of the independent experts: https://healthfeedback.org/claimreview/viral-claim-falsely-asserts-that-covid-19-is-due-to-5g-technology-rollout-not-a-virus/?fbclid=IwAR0qoEAF9-cy2H2Y42gw6sQfiTCw_-CfPKWjpO2kzMUif5Z4vN05kD6qWCI.) Broadly, the video reveals how the Internet has become a platform for sharing alternative narratives of COVID-19 and the pandemic, revealing a public trying to understand what it means to live during a pandemic. -

RMIT Design Archives Instagram Post 18 March 2020 Cancellation of Melbourne Design Week events
On the week beginning Monday 16 March cultural organisations across Victoria began to make the difficult decision to close their doors to the public as a precautionary measure. In terms of the RDA, our programs for Melbourne Design Week, the Australian Heritage Festival, and Melbourne Rare Books Week were postponed until further notice. One of the themes of Melbourne Design Week was Communication Design and Health Promotion. The 'Life Be In It' poster designed by Alex Stitt seemed pertinent to the unfolding situation where potentially people might not be able to participate in physical activity outside of their homes. My gym closed last week! -

Self-Care Planning
"The weeks and months ahead will be challenging, but that doesn’t mean they have to be miserable. The following piece of media describes various strategies to employ during the pandemic, ensuring that your mental, physical, and emotional needs and stresses are managed and tended to.
