San Francisco Le Meridien Hotel Heart, Battery Street and Clay Street, North facing facade of hotel from my apartment.
The hotel workers, who are out of a job right now, had the thought to express love to people in the area and it really struck me that is exactly what we all needed at that moment: love. It made me sad for everyone, but gave me hope as well. I posted on Facebook and said: This hotel near where I live has been mostly dark the last few weeks, but tonight they made a nice heart. Love to all of you and all of your families and hope all are healthy and safe! -

If you can stay home, you must stay home. If you don't, people will die.
I have the VicEmergency app on my phone to warn for bushfires. Around mid March, I started getting daily warning alerts from the app, initially for contagious disease in my area, and then for pandemic in my area. The alerts usually come between 5-6pm and provide information on the latest public health advice and restrictions. On Friday 27 March the alert from the app was particularly striking. One of the instructions, highlighted in bold, told people "If you can stay home, you must stay home. If you don't, people will die." This felt like very dire warning from what is otherwise rather a dry app with very practical instructions. -

Doggie Sundae
A local icecream shop called FRESH was one of few local shops still open in for more than just delivery. They had a service window where they still served icecream from while patrons waited outside. We had initially stopped because the shop had put out large bowls of water for dogs to drink while they were on walks. We stopped because the park close by had shut off the water to the dog water fountain. They also served doggie sundae filled with chilled peanut butter and dog treats in a convenient to-go container. Loki loved the treat and thanks to the water they left out he easily finished his walk without needing help. -

Connecting through Chalk
Chalk messages on a green way path. For miles this greenway path to park and nature area had sporadic messages through out with motivational and comforting sayings. I had noticed children going out to the path and leaving these messages for all to see. It was nice to read these things and know that while practicing safe social distancing not engaging in close conversation with other while on walks that others can communicate their feelings and connecting with others using only a few words. -

Many funeral parlors open from Mar 26, to April 4 to allow people in Wuhan to collect their relatives' cremains. Most people need to wait 5 to 6 hours. The security system is very strict and taking a photo at that place is prohibited. At the mean time, many articles were published into social media, but all were deleted very soon. The actual number of dead people is unknown, and is not allowed to be known to the public. The official number of the dead people in China is 2535.
