The St. Mary's Wind Ensemble and Instrument Coverings
This is a set of emails containing information regarding the ordering of instrument coverings for the band in the late Fall 2020 semester. These instrument coverings were intended to be used to minimize the risk of COVID transmissions during outdoor in-person rehearsals that were to begin shortly after their arrival. They represent some of the steps taken by the band to protect students as they worked to facilitate a more normal style of band rehearsal. -

St. Mary's Wind Ensemble & In-Person Rehearsals
These are a series of emails sent out by the band director at St. Mary’s University regarding whether or not members of the band wanted to try to begin in-person rehearsals again. COVID-19 was slowing down at the time and virtual band practice left much to be desired so there were hopes that if enough people were in favor of in-person rehearsal that something could be worked out. -

Learning to be a Writing Center Tutor in 2020
I chose to upload my research proposal because I am going to study how tutoring strategies work in an online setting. I would usually have more flexibility with this assignment if we were meeting in-person with out students, but I had to restrict my options to those that were easily conducted in an online setting. I thought it's important to note how the physical conducting of school is not only affected by out situation, but also the actual content of classes too. Most of my classes are working the pandemic into their lesson plans in one way or another. In my Media History class, we looked at artifacts from the Spanish flu in newspapers from 1918-1919 to understand how the flu affected their lives then. -

Jewish Melbourne: A shabbat message from CSG
CSG posted on facebook for Shabbat, encouraging people to keep connected at this during this time of lockdown and physical disconnection: "These times of isolation, both physical and social, and uncertainty are when it is most important that we strengthen our sense of community by connecting with and supporting each other. Remind ourselves that we can manage this much better together in solidarity and that COVID-19 doesn’t discriminate – it can affect anyone. This weekend, take time to connect with others. Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom." -

Precautions and Code of Student Conduct at St. Mary's University during COVID- 19 Pandemic
This email is relevant and important because it is a clear example of how life as a St. Mary's University Student has changed. The email discusses the precautions the students and faculty should be taking in order to ensure the health and safety of everyone at St. Mary's. The email also lays out the possible consequences for students (especially on campus) who aren't following the rules in the Code of Student Conduct relating to these COVID Precautions. As I am a student with all online classes, living at home- therefore I am not on campus- this email does not affect me in a huge way. I am also not going to any in-person classes however, I think it is great that these precautions be enforced and closely monitored as the health of other students and professors or faculty who are on campus may be jeopardized. It is important that students learn to respect others and that they understand that their actions can affect a large group of people and not just them. -

"Because the pandemic is far from over, we’ll continue to hold Bandcamp Fridays on the first Friday of every month until the end of the year." Coronavirus in the U.S.: Where cases are growing and declining
This article was published by National Geographic and made public by them to help spread awareness of the current state of the Coronavirus epidemic. This article is important because often information is gained second or third hand from someone who heard from someone who heard from someone else and by the time the information gets to you, the actual info is lost. National Geographic has long been known as a reputable source of information and so the information from them can usually be counted on to be accurate. Having an accurate source of information can help ease anxiety people may have simply from 'not knowing.' This article stated that, in the US, cases have been steady but with the cooler temperatures coming, may rise again as more people are spending their time primarily indoors. This article serves as a good snapshot of the current state of things in the coronavirus universe in September 2020. -
