Life in the Pandemic
My life in the pandemic was tough. I couldn't work so I was not able to pay my bills, I like the rest of the world during lockdown had to sit at home bored out of my mind because nobody could leave. I was very scared for my mom when she got covid because she had oxygen issues and also heart issues. Going to school during the pandemic really bothered me because I lost a lot of focus and became very lazy when it came to handing in assignments. I would rather physically go onto campus because when I am actually listening to the professors' talk, it makes it so much easier to understand and to focus. -

celebrities during the holiday season
This is a instagram post made by Hailey Bieber, who is Justin Bieber's wife. This post shows them somewhere tropical on a vacation and you can see the date is December 9th. While they may not have been traveling exactly on Christmas, this post shows that they were traveling during the holiday season during a pandemic. Nowhere does it address them being tested for covid or being covid safe, you can only hope and assume they are taking cautions. This post makes me wonder how many other celebrities are traveling and having fun but not posting about it because of the backlash they would get, and deserve. I found this post important because you always here about these huge celebrities preaching to us on how important it is to stay home and wear a mask, but then you see them traveling to these beautiful islands and all these nice places because “we have a private jet” or “ we rented out our own private resort” so they justify traveling because they have the money to do so and ‘be safe’ while doing it. In my opinion it is very hypocritical on their part. Meanwhile the majority of the world is still stuck in their homes during the holidays not able to see their families or really give gifts to one another. This post is important to show the other side of the pandemic, the rich people side. I suppose the rich and famous are immune to covid? Who knows. -

Covid: 'How a picture of my foot became anti-vaccine propaganda'
A woman named Patricia developed severe blisters on her feet several days after receiving a placebo COVID-19 virus. While attempting to raise money for her medical bills, her story became twisted, causing it to spread across the internet that the vaccine had caused her new skin condition - even though this was not the case. -

Connecting Past COVID-19: #1
At first, the professor of this class thought that he had done something wrong when all of his students’ cameras were turned off on Zoom. He then thought it might be a new cool trend. He was surprised and emotional when his students surprised him with hand-made signs showing their thanks. -

A Very Covid Christmas
Every year, we send out a family Christmas card. The front has pictures of all of us. This year, we noticed that all of our photos have us wearing masks, so that is what we covered the front page with. Inside, we always do a funny message, so we made a list of parody Christmas carols themed after Coronavirus, the pandemic, and all of the other elements associated with it. We got lots of comments from family and friends that said they enjoyed the humor and regardless of the pandemic, they looked forward to our cards every year and knew that this year wouldn't be any different. -

Missing Assignments List
“School is very difficult for me online, as I don't have access to the resources I would if I were attending school physically. I cannot get the extra help I need, and without someone supervising me I'm forgetful and less likely to get my assignments in.” -Mary Harrigan I am submitting this object, along with Mary’s reasoning behind sending me this screenshot because it shows the ways that the education system is overwhelmed in trying to transition to remote forms of learning, which is, in turn, leaving behind many neurodiverse students. While the environment at home may be a bit more comfortable for Mary due to better control of external stimuli, they still don’t have access to the accommodations they need as an autistic student in high school. This object also shows the overwhelming nature of online schooling, and how the technologies we use to help in remote learning oftentimes cause more stress to the student because the reminder of how much work they have is constant: it is on their phones which they carry with them everywhere. Additionally, Mary is Autistic and Nonbinary, Both of these identities are not typically represented within historical records. and I think it's important that their experiences be preserved within this archive. -

Monster Pyramid: Caffeine and ADHD
I am submitting this image of a friend’s empty energy drink collection because it is indicative of how some people with ADHD use caffeine to deal with their symptoms when medication is inaccessible. Grim is not currently in a position to get the sort of support they need for their ADHD because of the pandemic, so they have taken a gap year from school and are working in the meantime. This is a small part of the collection of empty cans they have from the daily energy drink they have to help them function at home and work. Not many people know how hard it is to get support for ADHD as an adult, especially as someone who was assigned female at birth, so this object serves to show the ways that some neurodiverse people cope, especially now that Covid has made it that much harder and daunting to get non-emergency related doctor’s appointments. This object shows the ways medical care has changed due to the virus, fear keeping people from going in and hospitals and clinics being overwhelmed with people and unable to provide as much care as they once could. It also shows how the pandemic interrupted or changed the plans of many students to continue their education. -

covid vs homelessness
Unfortunately most to all homeless people do not have health care meaning if for some reason they got infected by covid, they would not be able to get tested nor treatment to due the lack of insure . Homeless people often use others peoples belongings for survival leading to many homeless people contracting the disease without the correct medical care which became fatal to their lives. -

Shopping during covid
we've all been able to shop at our convince with no troubles until covid. Now shopping isn't as simple as It was before. Now we are urged to wear face protection, a certain number of customers are only allowed in at a certain time, creating long lines out side of the shopping establishments. The severity of covid was at an all time high closing most to all retail stores, leaving open the essential need stores, such as grocery, convenience and pharmacies. -

Covid Testing Zones
as April as covid was trending upwards becoming more of a concern I decided to get tested along with my father. Knowing the virus is such wide spread and many people would be getting testing they would have a fast functioning and safe testing center, this is not always the case. Typically you would find yourself in a Long line with many others waiting about 30-1hr to first get seen than tested. most people would not abide by the social distancing rules, get to close to each other in line. -

Through the Eyes of a Waitress
This is a little bit about how I feel while working in a restaurant during Covid. It has been an interesting experience, and I have learned a lot of lessons both from working with the public in general, but also working with the public specifically during a pandemic. I haven’t been able to see my friends that much since the pandemic began, so working in the restaurant has helped because it gets me out of the house and working towards a goal of getting an apartment with my friends, from the money I'm saving up. This journal entry demonstrates something significant to my generation because while we might not be able to see friends, people can focus on themselves and work hard whether it be at school, work or both. Some people have seen their friends, and met up at Loretta for lunch outside, and this has been a way to catch up in a safer way. My journal entry focuses on what I have seen while working, the way people have acted when they come out to eat or pickup their takeout. This is important to me because it is my own words and observations from the past couple of months. -

Indigenous communities to sit tight and wait for vaccine roll out
Canada will receive up to 249,000 doses of the vaccine by the end of the month. This will vaccinate up to 124,500 people as a person has to take two doses for it to be effective. However, it's up to the provinces and territories to determine how the doses will be distributed. Indigenous communities are on the priority list but they will have to patient, since there aren't enough vaccines and there are difficulties in distributing it to communities who do not have the proper facilities to store it. Most Indigenous communities are disproportionally affected by the disease. First Nations people in Manitoba living off reserve make up 65 per cent of the overall First Nations COVID cases in the province. -

Personal Instagram Story (December 9, 2020)
Since the unfair deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor back in May 2020, I have been posting on my Instagram story in the hopes of educating someone. While I try to defend it as activism, there is a level of performatism since I was not allowed to visit an protests with my mom’s health and seeing how the Boston police were handling the situation. It is easy to just post a picture of something that you agree with and not show yourself doing anything that will really hope. Recently I have been trying to read more books focused on theory in order to educate myself more and this has been a major focal point of my time lately. Along with this, I have also attempted to find more petitions to sign and donating more since my job has become more stable. This item connects to the criteria of “something significant about your generation”. This comes from the fact Gen Z has always had the internet as a major component in their life and many of us find our personal worth on social media apps such as TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter. Being able to see these posts everyday keeps us engaged with the world around us, however, with Instagram’s policy of random posts, not everything is being seen and it leads to certain topics not getting the same exposure. I think that while social media is good in terms of activism, there is a major need for protesters still as they are the ones that get the most change done. There is also the importance of filling the archival silence as the larger topics are being discussed. As a white woman in 2020, educating myself and making sure the voices of minorities are heard before mine. I would rather post these little infographics than about my life because educating the masses is more important than my second time visiting Michaels each week. Giving even the smallest platform to these stories is important as many of my friends have said that they have learned something new from these. It sometimes feels like I’m posting into the void, but, I hope to get the larger message across anyway that I can. -

We will rise
So many African Americans are put down or treated different because the color of our skins. Many enslaved and many killed but yet our population arises. I just wanted to get out that we shouldn't be treated differently. We are still human. We don’t understand why this is so we fight with our voices! This pandemic has helped most of our voices get out there. To let the world hear our pain, our struggle. I thank coivid-19 for that. -

I.C.U. Beds Near Full Capacity Across the United States
Across the United States, hospital I.C.U. beds are at near full capacity. The article states, "More than a third of Americans live in areas where hospitals are running critically short of intensive care beds, federal data show, revealing a newly detailed picture of the nation’s hospital crisis during the deadliest week of the Covid-19 epidemic." Covid-19 deaths are rising and the capacity to care for the sickest individuals is dwindling. The winter of this pandemic could be considered the worst and most difficult time in the whole pandemic. -

Last Night of the Semester Together
This is a photo of my roommates and I on our last night all together before we go home for the Holidays. We were tested for covid before going home, and we are planning to wait a couple of days and get tested again once we get home before we see anybody. I would feel absolutely terrible if I spread it to someone that I love at home, so I am taking the necessary precautions. My roommates and I will be reunited again in late January. -

Covid-19 Statistics for Western Washington Counties (Olympic Peninsula)
I live in a rural part western Washington about one hundred miles from the initial outbreak of the Covid-19 in Seattle. Even though I live in a county that voted Republican in 2016 and 2020 (the first time Grays Harbor County voted Republican for the first time since 1928 when Herbert Hoover was elected) people took the restrictions seriously. As we hear about the supposed difference in Covid-19 outbreaks between Red and Blue parts of the country I thought it would be interesting to show the county-by-county numbers for Covid-19. The file attached shows the health department web pages for each county. This shows how serious this region took the outbreak. The file is static, so anyone interested should follow the web addresses to see current numbers for active contact tracing, active Covid-19 cases and Covid-19 deaths. -

Faculty Meeting
Our school is a private one in a larger metropolitan area in the United States. Our administration is doing everything it can to keep us physically in school. We currently are still operating on a hybrid plan where most of our kids are in class with us but some are online at home. Our school has kept strict guidelines - social distancing, masks, hand sanitizer, and many more precautions have been put in place, including virtual faculty meetings so we won't gather in large groups. In a world where people are clamoring to stay home, I feel safe in my school and I feel that we have done a great job. Some students have tested positive, but our administration and nurse have taken the necessary steps to identify close contacts quickly, quarantine all involved, and test individuals who require it. The pandemic is not being taken lightly at our school and our administration is working many extra hours to make sure we don't have to go virtual. Our teachers and staff still keep a very positive attitude and I feel very thankful to be at this school. -

Quarantine Debts
Reflection: For my second primary source I decided to write a poem to express my feelings on the pandemic. I start to dive in to the handling of the pandemic in the present day and my discontent with how America had been handling it. I choose a poem because of my love of musical writing and how you can interpret it in multiple different ways. The boredom that arrose from quarantine got me to start to learn the guitar and get into writing songs to help me find meaning when I felt alone. Also I thought a poem would be the best way to express my frustration with losing some of the the supposedly best years of peoples lives. If we are going to compare my other primary source, the journal entries, and this poem; I think that the poem is a much better way to portray my experience with the pandemic. In the future, researchers will be able to use this primary sources because of my view on the role of government on the pandemic. Yes, my poem is very opinionated, but its what a lot of students think today about how some younger people oppose another lockdown. -

No Fans
Playing throughout the year with very little fans and no fans at all has changed to game a lot. The fans of a team make a huge impact on the game itself and impacts how a team can play. Fans bring so much energy to the gym, it makes the game a lot more fun to play. -

How covid affected my life
At the beginning of quarantine I didn't really take the virus serious.I thought school was only going to close for 2 weeks but its about to be a year since i been to school. Theres really nothing to do out and most places are closed.Theres also not alot of places we can travel to so life has been boring. Most malls are closed so shopping has been hard.Wearing masks all day makes me feel dizzy and makes it hard to breathe. It seems like like any common cold you get is covid. Its hard to do anything without thinking about contracting covid.I also feel like the gorverment is not really telling us the truth which is causing more anxiety and stress on some people.
