Covid-19 Daily Schedule
In 2020, when schools closed their doors my children were ages 2 and 5. Because I was a public school teacher, I was no longer away at the school for 10+ hours a day. My kids were not old enough to have started school so I didn't need to learn about their online learning. However, I came to realize they needed a set structure to keep them busy during the what-seemed-like endless days we would be home together. A friend shared this schedule with me and I took pieces from it to work into our daily lives. It was important to me to keep my kids brains active and I knew I had to take on the role of a preschool teacher to do so. Eventually, we got into a groove and the many days became purposeful. -

#JOTPYLesson from Clinton Roberts
I’ve worked from home for the past year. In the past I’ve always worked in the public, but never expected to have to make this transition. I’ve learned to accept what life throws at you. -

Vaccinations for ages 16 and older could affect Arizona high schools
(Monday, March 22, 2021) Gov. Doug Ducey announced that Arizonian's ages 16 and up would be eligible for COVID vaccines. In particular, the counties of Pima, Maricopa, and Yuma are interesting in administering the vaccines in an effort to produce "a positive impact on schools and our community." The statement from the governor comes after the executive order mandating that districts that are non deemed as "high transmission" counties. District leaders and health experts are hopeful that as more students and staff are vaccinated it will reduce transmission levels and ultimately produce an environment safe for all. -

Dreaming About This Day... But Now What?
Shot 2! After so many sleepless nights and moments of paralyzing fear, my husband, my 65 year old mom, and I are all officially double dosed! The day I have been praying for for months is here and I am in disbelief. But I’m also sitting here like “now what?” Are we really safe? Can I REALLY go safely and run in my canyon aside the maskless? I do trust the vaccine, but it is a huge psychological jump to suddenly trust. There’s also the issue of the two things I love most in this world - my kids. They’re not eligible for vaccines yet and I fear for them. I know, the likelihood of them having a serious complication is low, but as a person who had both the measles and scarlet fever as a kid (no, I’m not kidding), I am a walking example of the “one in a million” chance. What if they’re like me instead of their dad? I feel like I’m in a strange limbo. Definitely more hopeful than I was even a couple of months ago, but also sort of paralyzed in a sense of “what do we do now?” -

Hate Crime at "Stop Asian Hate" Rally
At a "Stop Asian Hate" rally in Los Angeles over the weekend, a man yelling racial slurs drove his car through a red light to target Asian and Pacific Islander protesters in a crosswalk. The incident is being investigated as a hate crime and is another example of the rising incidents and attempted incidents of violence against the AAPI community. -

COVID-19 Claims Life of Trailblazing Bourne Police Lieutenant, Cancer Survivor
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect law enforcement personnel far more than all other job hazards. The SARS-CoV-2 virus killed more American police officers and law enforcement personnel in 2020 than any other cause of death, and that trend appears to continue in 2021. Unlike most other essential workers, law enforcement professionals cannot reliably keep social distance or avoid personal contact with the public and their colleagues. Additionally, they are unable to seek reasonable accommodations that would allow them to do so, and their failure to fulfill their duties and sworn obligations is often grounds for dismissal and decertification. -

Mask Mandate
My personal feelings expressed through a meme about how the U.S. Government must have felt about a national mask mandate.
