Mojo Leaves
I took this photo of Watson Lake near the Dells five days after restrictions were lifted. From what I remember, there were no travel restrictions at the time. I was one of the few that lived on a large property, and I could stay busy feeding my animals, chopping firewood, and working on homework. However, concerning the photo, I was coming home from getting guitar strings in Prescott. It was the first time I had thought about playing music since my good friend Joseph Morganfield passed away in December 2020. He's the son of Muddy Waters and was one of my biggest supporters as an artist and musician. I always tell folks if I could have chosen a dad, it would have been Joseph. This day was important because I realized life would go on, after Covid, like it or not. -

Vaccines Rollin’ Out. Covid’s Over?
The picture that I have chosen for the archive is one of me after getting the vaccine in March of 2021. After receiving the vaccine, I captioned the photo, like many of my optimistic peers, “Covid over.” Since last February of 2020 when the pandemic started, a vaccine was finally being distributed across the country (USA), and a majority of people were ecstatic that quarantining was over. But little did I know, many people would be against taking the vaccine leading to variants of Covid-19 like the Delta variant. This picture was taken six months ago from when this archive was being made, and Covid is still not over because people choose to believe these conspiracy theories of the government putting microchips in the vaccine and other ridiculous things like that. Even with a vaccine that is available to everyone in the United States, the pandemic is still raging on with the Delta variant running rampant in the hospitals which has an even worse effect than the normal strain that was going around from February 2020 to around May of 2021. This picture is just to show how hopeful people get from new technology coming out that can save thousands of lives, but ignorant people choose to convince others what they believe since they are spreading their crazy selfish conspiracies. I was so hopeful of having a normal sophomore year of college, but once again Covid is still present (as of September 14, 2021) putting the elderly at risk and quarantining/putting a hold on people’s lives. -

Weekend
March 30, 2021 Over the weekend, I went to my house in St. Francisville with my dad and sister. We made a last minute decision to go on Friday evening instead of on Saturday morning, which turned out to be a great decision because we woke up early on Saturday morning around 5:30 in the morning to go turkey hunting. Within about 30 minutes, I had shot my first turkey. My dad was so happy for me because I had been trying to kill my first turkey for so long, as it is just about the only animal we have on our property that I had not shot yet. After shooting it, we brought it to our cousin for him to breast it and take off the tail feathers. After that, my dad took me to Burger King, which is one of my favorite fast food places. I got my usual order, but just like it almost always is, the ice cream machine was broken, so I could not get a milkshake. Then we went to our house and at night we watched Alabama play our Sweet 16 game against UCLA. the game was very close all the way through, but with four seconds left, UCLA scored to put them up by three, and we inbounded it and our point guard Jahvon Quinerly sprinted up the court and passed the ball to our center Alex Reese who was standing almost on the mid-court logo, and he drained a deep three as time expired to tie the game and send it to overtime. Sadly Alabama followed up that great shot, probably one of the best shots in bama history, with one of our worst performances ever in overtime, as UCLA pulled away to win the game, and I was very frustrated because of how poorly we played in overtime. -

Landlording During the Pandemic
This article discusses how despite initial assumptions that landlords may have been harmed during the Coronavirus they have actually been seeing large profits. Understanding that landlords are still earning money and turning a profit. This idea is in direct violation of the narrative that these eviction moratoriums are harmful to landlords. I wanted to include this article because I think to understand homelessness you also have to understand property ownership and landlording. I'll use the article to provide examples about how the homelessness experienced during the pandemic was preventable and how the pandemic has been kinder to landlords than to homeless people. -
