Salons and barbershops are still closed in my area. Making this the third month that people have gone without their normal upkeep. Several of my friends have taken to shaving off their hair out of frustration. I myself was ready to chop it all off so I asked my daughter River, if she would be willing to give it a shot. She did a good job.

This post probably applies to the Peruvian community living in the United States. The post reads, "stay safe," and advises people what to wear and take to a protest. It shows that Peruvians and other people of color identify with the #BlackLivesMatter movement and are part of the protests asking for accountability and strucutral change from police.

This image better describes some of the hypocrisy surrounding the social media support for #BlackLivesMatter. I'm glad that people in Peru are paying attention, but statements like "racism doesn't exist in Peru," belie the horrible truth. Racism is all around us whether in the U.S. or Peru. This meme in particular points out some of the controversial media images like La Paisana Jacinta that embody and make light of race and class differences.

Since January, I planned to send my 6yo to a summer theater camp. When I moved to Tempe, several people told me that Childsplay was great, and I couldn’t wait to send her. The camp was supposed to start in June, and then thanks to COVID-19 got pushed back to July. I re-arranged some summer plans to make sure she could go, only to have the in-person camp cancelled. Instead, they offered an online version called the “Triwizard Tournament.” I can say that she tried, but after months of being at home she felt weird getting online and seeing a Zoom screen full of three new teachers and new kids. When asked to say her “wizard name,” she clammed up, said her stomach hurt and said she didn’t want to continue. I was frustrated, but I said OK, logged her off, and took a breather. I think, what frustrated me the most is I want her to have a fun activity, one that doesn’t require my input. Honestly, it would be a relief if she were having fun pretending to be a wizard on Zoom instead of bored and complaining that she wants more TV time. After thinking it through, and realizing I was more upset over what I wanted, I got it together and we moved on. I hope she can do a traditional class in the future.

in my opinion, the first method in the face of the outbreak is the most effective, the most secure for people's lives. First of all, pneumonia with the new coronavirus infection can be transmitted through respiratory droplets and exposure. Spread by respiratory droplets, such as patient sneezing, coughing, talking droplets, exhaling gas close contact, can lead to the continuous spread of the disease, or the patient sneezing, coughing, talking droplets mixed in the air, the formation of aerosols, inhaled by others can also lead to infection; Therefore, only the implementation of home order, everyone wearing a mask, increase the intensity of testing, is the most effective approach. Many people feel that the home order violates human rights. I think it is selfish of those who pursue so-called freedom in this outbreak, because at a time when countless health care workers are saving lives on the front lines of the epidemic, and these so-called freedoms are demonstrating in the streets, not only for themselves, but for the health of others. So I think Method One is not only not a violation of human rights, but rather a responsibility to the lives of the inhabitants. And the implementation of the home order is not only an inhuman decree, but every person who abides by the home order is contributing to society.

when the first discovery of the new coronavirus, immediately published, and open and transparent data, to promote the new coronavirus hazards and protection measures. Since the new coronavirus is spread by droplets produced when people speak again , we should minimize human contact . First of all, we must close the country to reduce external communication. Secondly, serious areas should be closed cities, the implementation of home orders throughout the country. The importance of universal wear masks and disinfection of clothes out of the home. Even in less serious places, strict lying in and out of the population should be strictly restricted, and the public began to be tested in large quantities for nucleic acids. Close all public places, prohibit public gatherings, and open only supermarkets. A substantial increase in the production of medical equipment. For severe areas, build hospitals for outbreaks. In the highway, railway station, airport, etc. , all have to set up detection points to carry out temperature measurements on people. Limit the number of people entering and leaving the community , and check the temperature of all people in and out of the area . Elevators in the district are disinfected three times a day, and the property needs to be doored to the owner twice a day to measure the temperature. Promote an app that we call a health code here and require all citizens to use it. Its main function is to be able to grasp the human movement trajectory, such as entering shopping malls and supermarkets by bus subway to protect the train will require to sweep this health code. The health app is set to three models the first of three is that green indicates that it was not exposed to neo-coronavirus contamination before the data update date, while yellow indicates that it may have been exposed to neo-coronary virus contamination within 14 days, needs to contact the local health service center, try not to go out to be isolated at home, red indicates that within 14 days with new coronary patients have been in close contact with the CDC ice and medical isolation. The outbreak ended and the economy began to recover, but residents were asked to wear masks because the outbreak could return at any time. Help countries that have helped China fight the outbreak, send experienced medical teams and donate medical supplies. For other countries in need, trafficking in medical supplies.

Florida is a state that declares its reopen plan early. On April 29, 2020, the Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 20-112 announcing that stage 1 of reopen is effective on May 4, 2020. It allows some businesses and elective procedures to resume.
In the FAQ latter published by the Governor’s office, it states that "Medical services, including elective procedures, surgical centers, office surgery centers, dental offices, orthodontic offices, endodontic office and other health care practitioners' offices may fully re-open ... However, they must maintain adequate bed capacity and PPE."
In the EO 20-112, it also orders personal services such as barbershop remain close. The limitation to “Barber; Restricted Barber; Cosmetologist; Nail Specialist; Facial Specialist; Full Specialist; Hair Braider; Hair Wrapper; and Body Wrapper.” was later lifted by EO 20-120 on May 11.
My mother owns a massage establishment in Charlotte County, Florida. And massage businesses are regulated by the Florida Department of Health. Therefore, massage therapists are health care practitioners licensed by the Department of Health, and massage businesses should apply to EO 20-112 to resume business activities.
However, no massage establishments reopen after May 4. Because the wording of EO 20-112 is kind of ambiguous, it did not mention massage establishment at all. And many business owners and government workers believed that massage businesses are categorized as personal services and should remain close.
EO 20-120 only lifted limitations for some specific personal services businesses mentioned above. Massage business does not apply here.
During the week of May 11, my family started to concern about those Executive Orders. And started research about these orders, and I came up with the conclusion that massage businesses are health care practitioners who apply to EO 20-112 to resume business activities.
On the other hand, my mother is still afraid of the fine and possible detainment violating executive order. She has researched the local area, and no other massage businesses in the area had reopened.
Therefore, I started to contact the local government and state government agencies to figure out the exact interpretation for EO 20-112.
I emailed the Governor’s office. No response.
I called the Florida Department of Health Board of Massage Therapy. They told me they do not interpret the Governor’s Executive Order. OK.
My mother’s business friend emailed Charlotte County to see if EO 20-120, the order lift limitation of barbershops and body wrappers also applies to massage establishments. The county replies:
>>>>The governor's order covered: Barber; Restricted Barber; Cosmetologist; Nail Specialist; Facial Specialist; Full Specialist; Hair Braider; Hair Wrapper; and Body Wrapper.
>>>>Massage salons and such personal care services businesses are not covered by the order. Charlotte County has not added or removed any restrictions beyond what the governor's order covers.
This reply is also ambiguous, it only explains EO 20-120 does not include massage establishment. It does not mention if it applies to EO 20-112, where allows health care practitioners to resume business.
Therefore, I emailed the same county government worker asking about if massage businesses apply to EO 20-112. No response.
Lastly, on May 27, 2020, Florida Department of Health sent us an email clarifies that “Massage Therapists, Establishments are Health Care Practitioners” that are authorized by EO 20-112 to return to practice. (see attachment for the original email)
Then I contact Charlotte County to see if they implemented local limitation to massage business and they said, no, they follow the state policy.
The business was authorized to reopen since May 4. But every government agency is ambiguous about it. Contacting them did not help at all. We only got clear information to reopen on May 27, almost a month late.
It is really a time of struggling to survive for many small business owners like my mother. And this additional month of closing made us really frustrated when we thought of how much profit we could have made if the government agencies can address their policies more clearly.

The pandemic has brought up a lot of situations where people feel alone because they can't see their friends or go to the places they want. It has brought a feeling of constant claustrophobia within the walls of one's life. This has been something that has effected me because of all the restrictions you have to go to when just doing a normal thing like going to the grocery store. Everything has been so different and so procedural. It is a very bizarre feeling to do groceries and think about if one of the items you touched at the store could give you one of the most contagious and deadly diseases the last hundred years or more. During this times of extra precaution, it is always import to remember why people take this precautions and safety measures. As someone living with their parents after college being shut down, I need to always be exceedingly thorough when washing my hands and cleaning things as my mom has recently finished chemo and radiation. Life has been so different and so uniform without much change besides in the number of patients throughout the world.

The protests all over the country have shown the pandemic in a new light. People are crowding together when they had been told to stay apart for months. They are coming together for social issues that are as important as the health crisis at hand--racial inequality and police brutality. Within the news segment clip that accompanies the written article, one can see many protesters on the steps of Wilmington's (NC) City Hall. Although it appears crowded, many protesters are wearing masks. While all Americans have been fighting an "invisible enemy" for 3-4 months, many are now seeking to fight an issue that has plagued us for more than 150 years--institutionalized discrimination. Even more recently, they are protesting as a response to George Floyd's death while under a policeman's knee.
Including the protests in Wilmington, as well as others in different cities, into this archive is important because these two events have never coincided at any time during recent history. There has been a pandemic of influenza during 1918-1919, and the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, but there has never been such a moment in history as this we are currently facing. The future implications and consequences of the pandemic and protests have yet to be determined. The only thing that is for sure right now is that we will be studying this moment in history for many years to come.

The woman in the middle of the screen is my great-grandmother, who is 101 years old. Because of the outbreak, she has been unable to meet all her grandchildren in China, Jarkata, America, and Singapore. After this Zoom meeting, she called my grandfather and cried, because as a 101-year-old, she couldn't understand why we were meeting this way. She was frightened and uneasy. This story is significant to me because I am grateful that I have such an amazing great-grandmother, and it has been an emotional period for all of us.

During quarantine a lot of people have struggled to see the goodness in the world with everything that is going on. At times, it feels like you are truly alone in the world and the only people out there are the people that you are quarantined with. The news is filled with nothing but bad things and about the deaths of people with COVID 19. Whenever you turn on the TV, you become completely inundated with all the negative things that are happening around you. However, during these trying times, there was a light at the end of the tunnel that brought mass amounts happiness and hope to people all across the world. Some Good News(SGN) was created John Krasinski as a news channel only featuring good things that people are doing all over the world. After its first episode it blew up and became more and more popular every week. SGN became a place for people to watch all the good things that people are doing during one of the hardest times the world has seen. It united people and gave people the greatest gift someone could ever give, hope. Hope that the world is going to get through this, hope that things will get better, hope that with everything seemingly going downhill there is always some good news to be shared with the world

The global pandemic has been hard on so many people and has forced everyone in the world to adjust their lives to what is going around in the air. It has been especially hard to assimilate to the new way of college. Luckily I just finished my sophomore year at DePaul, but for many of my close friends their times at DePaul have come to an end. It has been a sudden and abrupt end to their college years. They went from working and hanging with friends to stuck at home and not being able to live up the last year of college with friends they have spent college with. This has been tough for everyone to see close friends have to leave a place they have been accustomed to for 4 years and to leave the ones who have built some of the deepest and closest friendships people can experience. COVID 19 has robbed the seniors of the pinnacle of their college life.

The virus crisis is testing China’s ability to feed its 1.4 billion people, one of the Communist Party’s proudest achievements. Cooped up at home and fearful that the epidemic could last weeks or even months, families across China are hoarding provisions, making it harder for shops and supermarkets to keep fresh food in stock. Many places have closed off roads to passing traffic, slowing truck shipments and raising freight costs.
