This book of poetry was for an English assignment for my 11th grade class after we transitioned to remote learning. I thought it was a very powerful time to share my opinion in an ever-increasingly digital world and my voice may be heard in future years for strangers to hear. I share political shames in this book, my everyday experiences during the stay-at-home order, and the experiences of those around me.

News story about a nurse's struggle to find daycare for her young son. Her son's previous daycare closed, perhaps permanently, he is far down the waiting list for emergency daycare for the children of frontline workers, and then a spot she did find him fell through when the parents of other children in the daycare, two of whom had weak immune systems and asked the carer not to take the child on as they feared he would carry covid19 to daycare from his mother's work at a hospital. She has not been able to work due to the unavailability of care, during a time when nurses are in high demand.
However, the article also mentions that after a story on the situation was aired on the nightly television news, the nurse received numerous calls offering to watch the child for her.

I live in Wuhan and this is the community I lived in. We have two gates and one is blocked because of coronavirus. Even now after almost two months of Wuhan's reopen, it is still blocked. This is because the community wants to make it easier for them to check every cars and passengers, when they want to enter or leave the community, they need to scan a QR code (green code is a code show that you are safe and not infected with coronavirus, easier for government to know where you went and if suspected positive tests out on your routine, you will be notified quickly) to choose enter/leave and test your body temperature.

This image is of a screenshot of an ad for the campaign, which the government is using to educate Indigenous Australians regarding the risk of COVID-19. The ads appear to be targeting Indigenous Australians living in remote communities, giving them tips on how to stop the spread of COVID-19 and utilising indigenous artwork and slang to appear 'relatable'.

In order to prevent the spread of COVID19, China requires all people who enter China to do quarantine in assigned hotels, and I did mine quarantine in Guangdong in March. This is a breakfast the hotel sent for all the people who lived in hotel doing quarantine at the time. The breakfast is actually really delicious.

With spread of COVID-19, many schools are now closed and those who originally lived on campus have no place to live. The students have to their home countries. However, many countries are reducing air travel today to prevent coronavirus and reduce cross-infection on airplanes. It's very difficult for these students to get back, not only do they have to accept expensive plane tickets but they also have to continue learning under the pressure of COVID-19. Therefore COVID-19 cause many damages to students.

I had never felt how long a journey to home can be, until this time. I took an 15-hour flight from western US to eastern China. I could not eat, drink, or use the lavatory during the whole time of flight to prevent myself from infecting COVID-19. Besides, I had to wear masks and gloves all the time. Those made me feel the time was going much slower than any other time. The only thing I could do was reading on my phone. I read the one of the best scientific fictions in the world, The Three-body Problem. The author says that "The human being had never been defeated because of weakness and ignorance, but arrogance." It is the same thing when we confronting the COVID-19, an unknown crisis in human history. The point is we cannot be arrogance this time. We have to be serious and do hour best to prevent it from spreading.

I want all my readers to be instilled with a sense of hope after finishing my book, so that is why I wrote about the future. Americans were enchanted with videos of Italians singing together from their balconies. It showed such great spirit and making the most of a most difficult situation.
This particular video shows a wife who is exhibiting no musical talent at all, and the husband can't take it any more.
I found this video on Instagram with the caption of "Us, tomorrow," showing that living together 24/7 is very stressful on a marriage.

During the pandemic, not only were we faced with empty grocery store shelves, but there were lines around the block to get into a store. This was difficult at best, and scary to many of us, making us wonder if this was a sign of the collapse of our way of life.
Soon, most stores offered "senior hours" which allowed the older citizens to shop early without waiting in the lines and with less people in the store, thus reducing the risk of contagion. This is a flyer the town of Glendale, California put out to inform those who needed to shop early.

Throughout the pandemic, those who were quarantined at home for their own safety were served by workers in many fields. They were putting themselves in harm's way every day to make sure there was food in the grocery stores, to keep the mass transit running, to cook for us, to care for our health, to keep up our yards, to keep the banks open, to deliver to us, to advance science and work for vaccines and cures. The police and firefighters were also working around the clock for us.
At first, until studies were done about the need for masks and gloves, none of these workers were protected at all. Health car workers had to work without adequate protective equipment. Many grocery workers and police were infected with COVID-19, and many died because they were doing their duty. Heroes.

Demonstrations against police violence have been taking place in Phoenix, AZ, as in many U.S. cities, following the May 25 killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. On the same day, Dion Johnson, also an African-American man, was fatally shot by police in North Phoenix. I took these photos at a peaceful march in support of Black lives on May 31. In keeping with public health guidance, almost all demonstrators wore protective masks to guard against spreading Covid19. But as one hand-lettered sign put it, "the virus is racism."

They had to stay to resist the virus and protect themselves. The Chinese embassy in the United States provided some face-masks, wipes, and some medicines to Chinese students in the US. The photo recorded how CSSA staff distributed these supplies to each student. They wearing protective clothing and goggles check everything was fine, which soothed the student's anxious mood under the situation of Covid-19.

We find a place where had some outdoor tables and chairs in a plaza. My friend said last time he saw some securities nearby, they would hold night patrols and make sure nobody would gather in the plaza. Indeed, when we almost finished eating, a security's auto stopped beside us, and security came down, wearing a face mask, kindly let us leave to go home. COVID-19 really affects humans regular lives.

Podcasts help me pass the time, and provide a mental escape from a daily routine that has become so monotonous. Given COVID-19, one recent podcast I subscribed to is the Daily Smile hosted by Nikki Boyer. Today, there was no episode. Instead, Nikki explained that owing to the recent police murder of George Floyd and the protests across the U.S., there would be no new content. The Daily Smile, and its company Wondery refrained from uploading any new content today.

one upon a time there was a virus that was new and dangerous. Plagued by fear, the US issued a self-quarantine and limit of social encounters with other people. this angered many people, but it was very necessary. my family is being torn apart by this and I honestly would rather get coronavirus than do this for another month or something. its ridiculous. My parents would freak out at dinner every night because Im not living up to their expectations that seem to have risen during this worldwide state of panic and fear, while I'm getting yelled at for not wanting to set the table or something like that. also, they keep putting time limits on everything I do related to technology; I'm honestly amazed they haven't figured out how to put a list on my school issued Chromebook. once again, ridiculous. I cant believe they expect me to constantly be in a productive state during the worst year of my life. even if after today, everything was sunshine and rainbows, I would still look back on 2020 with the worst taste in my mouth imaginable. ridiculous. my parents tell me I'm going to tell mt grandparents about his, but really, as soon as it ends, I'm going to do my best to forget about this, but It wont be easy, that's for sure. ridiculous. every day, I do that same thing. wake up, shower, school, lunch, moar school, dinner, boredom , sleep, repeat. And i resent almost every single minute of it. Only on the weekend can I feel a sliver of happiness and contentment, only until my parents badger me about responsibility. Give me some time to myself, for god's sake.

My laptop died, so I headed to Sawyer Library in search of a replacement laptop, a much needed item in this COVID time. With only a select few stores open and selling electronics and with no inventory due to manufacturing restrictions, I was forced into the possibility of borrowing one from the library. Passing through security, I noticed that Tom, who said he never left, still collects the university's newspapers, which are piling up. The newspapers behind him belong to other depts. on campus. Meanwhile, the library's newspapers sit in buckets around the corner waiting to be claimed. I call these piles "Fort COVID".

Clipped from the May 15, 2020, volume 155, 10th issue of the Catholic Advance, this photo shows how the Vatican's Swiss Guards have had to adjust to COVID-19's presence. On top of wearing masks while on duty, the Guard rescheduled their induction ceremony to October; a rite of passage that normally occurs on May 6 and coincides with the anniversary of their famous 1527 last stand to defend Pope Clement VII. While the Swiss Guard fought a mutinous foe hand-to-hand nearly 500 years ago, this unseen enemy can only be combated through masks, crowd control, and strict social distancing.

Received in early May, the letter, bearing the president's stamp, informs the recipient of their stimulus payment made possible by the CARES Act; an act of Congress that pumped over $2 trillion into a once robust US economy now crippled by the coronavirus and the states' subsequent lockdowns. Furthermore, this artifact reflects the virus's growing politicization during a contentious campaign year, with the incumbent president attempting to revive the US economy despite the grave threat posed by COVID-19's onslaught. Letters, such as this, that were "signed" by the president angered many within the US, as they viewed this as a politically-motivated stunt, thus reflecting the festering political divide that has only been made worse as COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc across the world.

The office of US House Rep. Ron Estes (4th District - KS) distributed this pamphlet through the mail to Wichita-area voters in April of 2020 as the US government grappled with the rapidly developing public health and economic crisis. Reflecting the GOP perspective on the federal government's early response to COVID-19, the pamphlet praises the 45th president's administration, as well as the US Congress, for taking action to combat the virus's effects, most notably the delayed tax filing deadline, the Families First Coronavirus Act, and allocating money for accelerated testing, virus treatments, and vaccine development. Moreover, it credits the president's administration with ensuring health care access through telemedicine expansion. Finally, it describes COVID-19 as the greatest crisis this country has faced since the Second World War and repeats the now common phrase, "We're All In This Together."

This cartoon depicts a New York Times news article printed May 24, 2020 listing just 1,000 names of the nearly 100,000 who had died from the coronavirus since January 2020. In the bottom right corner, Trump is shown attempting to wash away the list of the dead with bleach. Trump had previously made the absurd suggestion that people who contracted Covid could cure the virus by ingesting Bleach. This comic illustrates Trump's desperate, disrespectful, and foolish attempts at solving the pandemic.
