This shelf was placed at the local community house where people could take what they needed or indeed leave what they did not need. As there was no toilet paper on the shelves of the supermarket just a few 100 metres away, I thought the toilet rolls would be snapped up pretty quickly, but to my surprise they stayed for some days.

This is a photo of my wife making a set of fabric masks for the family as no masks have been available to purchase. There were many patterns available to download online or instructional youtube videos. This design allows for one to insert a disposable tissue or paper wipe for additional protection. My wife wore her mask once or twice to the supermarket, other than that we have not had cause to use them.

I took a screenshot during my work meeting where our boss was guiding us through the transition to online tutoring. I work as a tutor through the Advancement Via Individual Determination program all throughout K-12 schools for the Sacramento County. This is basically my boss going through how we can provide online tutoring services for our students and be able to claim those hours. So far, our services have not been needed much since teachers are mainly focused on how to transition to online classes, something K-12 public schools never experienced before. However, I am still very grateful because my work have been really helpful in finding ways to pay us through this pandemic. It also makes me feel fortunate enough to have the option to work from home whereas other people like doctors, nurses, deliverymen, grocery market employees, and other essential workers are fighting everyday in the front lines. #CSUS #HIST15H

I was given this receipt when I returned my parking permit through an Express Parking Permit Return station in parking lot 7 of my campus. The University Transportation and Parking Services wanted to provide a quick way where students can drop off their permits without getting out of their cars. It was also a way to ease the lines that were forming in front of their office at Lassen Hall since the school announced the transition to online classes.
I went on a Tuesday afternoon, during our transition period where classes were cancelled for four days. The parking lot were pretty packed and the UTAPS people were all wearing masks and gloves. I handed them my permit and they handed me a receipt. I could have completed the refund application and submitted it before school closed down but since this was a first-time occurrence, my Chemistry professor was unsure if we would still have to come in for our labs. I waited and then the chemistry department decided that it would be safer for everyone to stay at home and we would just have to do lab analysis online.
This was the only refund I was worried about since parking permits cost a lot and we were about half way through the semester. However, I remembered since the announcement happened, many students were trying to push for other refunds such as lab fees, the Well facility fees, and any other expenses charged by the university. Some requests were successful while others were not. #CSUS #HIST15H

This is two announcements concerning the status of the Utas Libraries; the one on the left is an announcement by a teacher which says that said the Morris Miller library was still open for picking up books, actually going into the library had been suspended by that point. Later that same day the University published an official statement that announced the total closure of the library. This was in keeping with government restrictions and guidelines, many libraries had been closed. This article also helps display the difficulty that some students have been experiencing in acquiring sources for their study have been made more difficult, especially since browsing is impossible, as a student can't go into the library and search the section of the library for relevant resources. This source also shows a way that educational institutions attempt to help students by scanning resources so that students can access high-use materials.

My younger sister, Josette Courey--who is a 2020 8th grade graduate at St. Mary Elementary--stands in front of a sign constructed by her fellow classmates and teachers. The sign displays support for public health officials and other frontline workers responding to the COVID-19 crisis. On our way home from shipping a package, we decided to drive by the school one last time to reminisce on her eight years as a mustang. This date marks a significant number of events for Josette. She not only missed her Confirmation and her graduation but she will also be sharing a very interesting birthday celebration as well. Personally, visiting the school again reminded me of my times as a student there and how fast eight years passes by. In a way, it reminded me to always make the most of any situation and to spend time with those most close to you. The pandemic may have tore us apart but it also brought us back together.

I just finished making dinner. Day 2 of distance learning. My emotional bandwidth is low. A cat is meowing, persistently. Can you guess which one?
This afternoon, I went out today to shop for food. I felt the acute weirdness of distancing bodies on our quiet neighborhood sidewalks. This and the occasional thank you from folks who appreciated me quite literally going out of my way to avoid them. I go shopping. Not every day. I don’t know what else to do. I wash my hands. I wipe down the high-touch surfaces in our apartment. I wear a glove and wash that and my hands afterwards. I don’t know what else to do.
A package arrived today containing Tylenol, Wet Wipes and a small bunch of pussy willows and lavender. Thank you. At home, I could hear Brendan opening the box and telling the girls to take it to me, seated on the couch, distantly learning how to teach something. I opened up the bundle, smiled, and put my face directly into it. I inhaled deeply, then burst into tears.
Where is outside anymore? I’m so very sad about this loss today, one that I picked out of a field of so many other losses. Later, outside for a moment, I wanted to hug a tree, but my sister, standing 8 feet away from me, told me not to so I put the sole of one shoe onto it and leaned back like the most awkward senior picture for a school year without a graduation.
I used to (a couple of months ago) volunteer at a hospital in the city. This was separate from my other hospital work and each year, for my medical clearance, it would be required that I take a respirator fit test using an N95 mask. Spoiler alert: I’m a size small. During the test, which to me always seems a bit like a bizarre performance art task and/or good modern dance, the person administering it asks you to do a variety of tasks: move your head slowly side to side, slowly nod up and down, deep breathing, normal breathing, and speaking. The text they ask you to recite is printed on a piece of paper taped to the wall at eye level in front of them.
