My parents lived in China and were asked to stay at home due to the Coronavirus outbreak. During January and February 2020, the surgical masks and N95 mask produced in China were in shortage. My father asked his friends for help, and his friends' imported the masks made in South Korea and Singapore. Now, my parents mailed extra masks to me.

Sitting in the front seat of my roommate's four-door Honda, we pay a special birthday visit to my roommate’s cat, Bunny. During the time of COVID-19, quarantining poses new challenges for people struggling with longstanding respiratory issues, which has led our household to temporarily move Bunny’s home to a friend’s residence. Although we miss him here day to day, nationwide shortages of albuterol and asthma medications due to COVID-19 force us to make difficult decisions on how to maintain our respiratory health during this time. For now, our interactions with Bunny include short playdates and visits to prevent asthmatic flare-ups and the use of medications such as albuterol, which have become so much for valuable and sparse during the times of COVID-19.

This is a photograph of a flyer posted on the side of a Hispanic grocery store at the end of my street in Northside Chicago on my way back from a quick grocery trip. This GoFundMe was created March 20th by members of the Uptown Buena Park Solidarity Network. The Uptown and Buena Park areas are home to older people, people out of homes, migrants of many countries and cultures, and more recently, young working professionals. The UBP Solidarity Network Twitter bio says they are, “an all-volunteer, grassroots group operating in Chicago's Uptown and Buena Park neighborhoods.” They set up Google forms for people in need to request groceries, bill payments or help being sheltered. Although they only exist on social media, they use physical signs because they do not want to leave out the members of the community who are most vulnerable at this time. Their social media provide links to forms where people can request help from older citizen care, grocery runs and helping with bill payments. #DePaulHST391

This is a picture of my classroom on April 16th, 2020. Our school in Nampa, Idaho officially closed at the end of the day on March 16th and I didn't return to my classroom until one month later. It was like I was stepping into a time capsule. My 'On This Day in History' board had been filled out for the next day by a student before we had learned that we would not be returning. The student also took it upon themselves to list "March 17, 2020 the first St. Patrick's Day with the virus."

"Bushwick DIY venue Shea Stadium, which closed the doors of its 20 Meadow St location back in 2017, has been attempting to make a comeback since, and they were on the verge of making a major announcement about a new space this spring… when coronavirus struck. “An offer was accepted last month for a 10-year lease at a new location,” venue organizers write in a new update on their Kickstarter campaign. “This was in early March, and as we were about to go into contract NY declared a state of emergency, casting the foreseeable future into some serious doubt.” Read More: Shea Stadium’s comeback delayed by Coronavirus, as J-Lo & A-Rod look to buy the Mets"

Yesterday, I spent hours driving on I-95; I started in NJ and went down the coast. In NJ it is required to wear masks and to 6 feet apart from each other; I was curious to see how strict other states were. When arriving in South Carolina I notice that it was a different atmosphere than in NJ. People were living there everyday lives, some taking the precautions need while others were not. In NJ it is spring, and where I live it has not stopped raining or been over 50 degrees for weeks. I noticed that I had different emotions living in South Carolina for 2 days then in NJ for the past 7 weeks. I wish I could have stayed there and laid in the sun for hours. Hopefully the rain will stop and the sun will come, I think everyone up here will benefit from it.

The podcast of the breathtaking “Change”, where our guest was Sveta Tsyganova (project “Secret Code of the Child”), which answered questions about education - and the dialogue was just wow-fire.
And about the modern school, and about responsibility, and about the authoritarian and democratic [paternal] approach, and how to develop talents, and about sexuality, and everyone got so wound up that they did not notice how the hour passed.
Listen, in general, to the podcast and come to Sveta to learn the "Secret Code of the Child", so my gut directly tells me that you may need this very much.

I recently had the chance to observe a Catholic prayer group, done remotely due to COVID-19. The meeting lasted about an hour. The group was made mostly of women and they performed the rosary, as a devotion to Mary. After this was complete the women went into discussion.
What I found was that many of these women were struggling due to recent events. Unemployment, anxiety, and sickness were all cited as problems for them. They asked each other to pray for them. This sort of group therapy, creates a sense of security, belonging, and hope. Many expressed how important the meeting was to them, as they needed an outlet to express their fears. The talk therapy, coupled with the ritual of rosary, helped these women during a difficult time. It is a testament to how many religious people may cling to their faith in times of distress.
Karl Marx famously called religion “the opium of the people”. This experience showed me that in a way this is true; it did place these women at ease with their situation. Marx expressed this in a negative light, but what I saw was a necessary attempt to seek out community amidst an ordered isolation. To these women, it seems not an opium but rather a medicine for mental and spiritual well-being.

when I could not visit my husband in the nursing home for 1/2 hour each day, I decided to write him a one page letter each day with my thoughts or doings. This is because he cannot pick up a phone on his own nor could he hear my voice register if we did talk on the phone. At first I delivered these letters, then the nursing home determined they had to let the germs evaporate for 48 hours. So now I send them though USPS and they probably still hold them for 48 hours before he gets them.

In Scotland we have loads of wonderfully funny women, none more so than comedienne and broadcaster, Janey Godley. She often posts videos of politicians where she adds her own voiceover to the footage. She is a huge supporter of our wonderful First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon and recently posted a video of Ms Sturgeon giving a coronavirus briefing on TV. Her voiceover had her saying that if we didn’t all stay indoors she’d ‘put her toe up the crack of our arse’. This is the origin of the meme.

Russia 2020. Our government decided that it’s better not to have “Emergency situation” and official quarantine. Russian citizens instead have “self-isolation”.In this case we all need to stay home, BUT no money were added to our accounts, no food provided from government or any kind of support at all. Instead, they decided that citizens without job, money and support need to pay fines every time they are on the street. What a great idea! And just before COVID-19 Russian Ruble felt dramatically because our government decided to have even more oil then before...Thanks again. Now we have: millions of poor people trying to survive, billioners get more money than before, government has more money from fines, but none spent on citizens, all small business shut down and have no chance to recover. In this situation any other country would help their own citizens. But Russia as a very generous country sent help to China,USA,Italy and other countries. Don’t worry, we don’t have sufficient quantity of doctors and medical resources, medicine in Russia will survive somehow. So would people. And everything after this pandemia...not going to change. Our country forgot about us.
