Free lunch contains a turkey sandwich with cheese on a white bread roll, cucumbers, red grapes, fat free milk, carrots, ranch dressing, mayo, and simply Chex strawberry yogurt. The food isn't the most nutritious, but it helps out students who may face food scarcity, and it returns some normalcy for youth accustomed to eating these meals every week day.

Darkest Before Dawn
Our world is being ripped apart by a virus, Covid-19, which is causing illness and death. Many are fearful for their own safety, that of their families, their loved ones and for the world’s people.
At times we feel helpless in the struggle to return to our old lives but we are not helpless!
Inside all of us is an army that can help in the fight.
This floral creation symbolises our struggle and hope for a return to health on our planet.
In the centre you see Covid-19, spreading its tentacles of disease throughout the world.
Standing physically apart but socially joined in a common struggle are the armies inside us.
Love (Red Rose)
Faith, Hope and Wisdom (Blue Iris)
Strength (Gladiolus)
Peace and Calm (Lavender)
When we all unite our armies we will see the rebirth of a healthy world symbolised by Easter Daisies and a butterfly in flight.

Being an employee of Petsmart, I have seen changes in the way that we operation on a daily basis. One example is how we do online pick up orders. On March 21, 2020, we moved all online pick orders to curb side pick order. Pet parents pull in to the designated parking spot, call the store, and then the associate that was designated the curbside pick up orders for the day, would answer the phone. We must ask for their name and then indicate on the iPad that they have picked up their order. We have started doing this to lower the foot traffic in the store. This is something that not only us as employees have to get use to but the pet parents as well.

The “Found Conscious” Facebook page shared a video in which Thomas Cowan, MD describes the coronavirus pandemic in terms of his healing philosophy, claiming its related to 5G technology and metals. Within a week, Facebook reported more than 300,000 shares of this particular video. In the wake of ongoing concerns about “fake news,” social media platforms, including Facebook, have taken moves to censor expression. In this case, Facebook describes the presentation with a notice that it contains “False Information,” as checked by independent fact checkers. (See, for instance, the report of the independent experts: https://healthfeedback.org/claimreview/viral-claim-falsely-asserts-that-covid-19-is-due-to-5g-technology-rollout-not-a-virus/?fbclid=IwAR0qoEAF9-cy2H2Y42gw6sQfiTCw_-CfPKWjpO2kzMUif5Z4vN05kD6qWCI.) Broadly, the video reveals how the Internet has become a platform for sharing alternative narratives of COVID-19 and the pandemic, revealing a public trying to understand what it means to live during a pandemic.

Because of the pandemic, the Red Cross has had to cancel thousands of blood drives and hospitals are experiencing a shortage. Although the thought of leaving the house right now makes me anxious, I wanted to do what I could to assist others in some way. The Red Cross has amped up its protective measures: temperature checks at the door, hand sanitizer at every step of the process, and even wrapping the stress balls in gloves. I'm worried about getting sick and hope to do my part to stop the spread of Covid-19 by staying home, but this is one thing I can do outside my house to protect others.

In this pandemic many families have to stock up on groceries, cleaning supplies, etc. to feed and keep their family safe and nurtured throughout the quarantine. But not a lot of people are able to afford their kids coming home from college, stocking up for a week in advance, or replacing the school provided breakfasts and lunches. My mom and dad aren't rich, but they work very hard to provide for me, their parents, my four other siblings, and others in need. This picture shows much of America's privilege and makes you think of Americans inability to provide for their family, especially when people may be getting laid off right now. I hope everyone is able to get all the things they need to survive during this pandemic.

At this moment my partner and I are packing up our lives because of the COVID 19 pandemic. I think if we weren't both students we would feel a bit less anxious, but now with no work and no income to support ourselves, it's time to minimise and Marie Kondo this tiny unit and move an hour and a half away from our lives here in the South-East suburbs. While I am grateful to be moving away from what could become a more dangerous place to live, I'm remorseful and not really ready to leave my first house. It's quaint and while we are staying at home the garden is enclosed and peaceful. Here's hoping the spread will be slow enough so that we can move before we have issues getting food. Hopefully it doesn't get as bad here as it has in other countries.

On March 8, 2020, the state of Louisiana reported its' first confirmed case of coronavirus in New Orleans. The next day, Cade Brumley, the superintendent of the Jefferson Parish Public School System, sent out an e-mail to all teachers, staff, and parents in the school system. In it, Dr. Brumley assured everyone that there had not been any confirmed cases in Jefferson Parish so far. He also reiterated the many steps the school system was taking to make the schools safe, like accelerating sanitation efforts around the school, screening students to see if anyone had been outside the country recently, and having employees take an online class on common illness prevention. Dr. Brumley also assured parents and teachers that he had every intention of keeping public schools in Jefferson Parish open for as long as possible. By the end of that week, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards would close all public schools in Louisiana until mid-April.
