Unconventional Joy on the Green
It was a bright, sunny, and cheerful day in Staten Island, NY, as three boys embarked on a mission. Their goal was to create an amazing YouTube video that would uplift people's spirits during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Frankie Cappello, Johnny Philp, and Christian Pineda, best friends for many years, shared the dream of becoming full-time content creators, entertaining millions worldwide. In this particular video, the boys headed to La Tourette Golf Course to film a prank-filled adventure, intending to bring smiles to others' faces. The first prank was orchestrated by Frankie, who pretended to swing a golf club (which was actually a selfie stick) and hilariously failed, exclaiming as he claimed to have fallen on his behind, surprising nearby golfers. For the second prank, Johnny and Christian approached a group of golfers, aiming for a "meaningful" conversation. Little did they know, the adult golfers decided to prank the boys by offering them a can of beer and jokingly asking if they were familiar with the popular song "WAP" by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. After successfully capturing these moments on film, Frankie's sister Ava took a snapshot that would later become the video's thumbnail and a cherished symbol of their friendship. Following a long night of editing by Johnny, the video was uploaded to YouTube the next day, forever preserving the memories and spreading joy among the boys and their supporters. -

Intel creates an Automatic Censoring System
Intel creates a new program called Bleep to help more people feel comfortable in the online gaming community, the only issue is that the program looks ridiculous. With toggleable n-word and a scale of misogyny you can choose from, it seems more like a right-wing pundit piece on how censoring will end up, as much as tackling the issue of hate on the online gaming community is it is just baffling how hilarious the interface is. -

The TIK TOK Kindergarten Teacher
Could you imagine teaching a group of kindergarteners online? Well that is exactly what this teacher has done, and with style. In order to keep her young students engaged, she has put her all into the lessons. Her high energy and theatrics are keeping learning fun and organized. It is teachers like her that show people that teachers are putting in their all, even when they can’t physically be with the students. A Day In The Life Of COVID-19
The main reason why I chose this piece of media is that I wanted to learn more about the daily life of nurses, doctors, and other healthcare workers. With both of my parents working in a healthcare setting, with my father as a nurse and my mother as a receptionist, it is important for me to understand what my parents deal with. I find this video to be extremely useful in becoming more aware of how government facilities are adapting to the virus, the daily life of healthcare workers and it gives me an overview of what I can possibly be doing in the future as a career. One precautionary action that the government has taken is an increase in virtual contact in order to prevent physical contact. In the vlog, Doctor Mike explains his hospital’s new “virtual patient visits”. This exhibits the government’s underlying guidelines (The CDC) about preventing the spread of the virus by limiting person to person contact. -

Drag in the Age of COVID-19
This news article explores the effect the COVID-19 shutdowns have had on drag performances. Since March, Atlanta has banned gatherings of over 50 people in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus. For drag queens in the Atlanta area, this means that they have not been able to perform live since March. However, many have found virtual performances to be a viable alternative. Some drag queens, in fact, are glad that they are able to work virtually now as they had been wanting to get out of performing at bars. While virtual performances don't make as much money as live performances, the audience is a lot larger than if they were performing live. -

Olive and Mabel Have a Company Meeting. Olive and Mable are Labradors
During the Coronavirus period, people worked from their homes. Meetings were held via video chat which had its own set of problems--things such as getting the software to work, positioning the camera, looking presentable, keeping the kids and the pets under control, etc. Remote school had the same problems with the additional challenge of keeping the kids involved and learning. This is a funny look at those meetings. Youtube user MrAndrewCotter holds a business meeting with his two dogs, Mable and Olive. -
