A COVID-19 Puppy
After months of deliberation, my wife and I decided to welcome another dog into our household. We were hesitant about getting a big dog, since we have only had experience with dachshunds together. But I have wanted a German shepherd my entire life and we figured that now is perhaps the only time in our lives that we will have enough time to invest in a big dog to make sure he is well trained (plus to keep him from eating the furniture!). Working from home due to the pandemic enabled us to get another dog, which probably wouldn’t have happened otherwise. While I am looking forward to some normalcy hopefully returning later this year, in the meantime I will be hanging out with my new pup, Oliver. -

Zoom calls with strangers a face with no makeup, these are a few of my favorite things
A Tik Tok video covering so many changes that have happened with the pandemic, an original sound by Nina Nesbitt. The video makes fun of zoom calls, not wearing makeup, and ordering food and other items online. It definitely captures how challenging it is to stay home, the struggle of interacting with other people, and the tendency to give into vices as a coping strategy. -

COVID19 Meals and Supplies Drop off TV Table
This TV table is where my mother left supplies for my father during his quarantine after he contracted COVID19 in July 2020. My mother set this table up outside their bedroom door. When she left something on the table my dad did not come and get it until she had left the hallway completely. I was not allowed to go near the table or get anything for my dad because my mom was afraid that I would get sick. She left a variety of items there for him including Gatorade and other drinks, meals, desserts, and utensils, and sticky notes. I think that this item demonstrates the type of adaptation necessary when a loved one has COVID19. My family and I could not be together, so we had to find ways to safely be apart. This table is one of the ways my parents and I did that. -

Staged COVID Dinner Sticky Notes
This is a photograph I took of staged post-it notes my mother wrote to my father during his quarantine after he contracted COVID19 in July 2020. When my father tested positive for COVID19 he quarantined in my parents’ bedroom. His illness required my mother and I to make adjustments to our daily lives. My mother began taking care of my father, primarily by bringing him supplies and delivering food during meal times. While she did this, she wrote sticky notes to him which can be seen in the photograph above. Some of the sticky notes are just simple reminders or questions, nevertheless, I believe they are all significant. These sticky notes were a creative way that my mother used to communicate with my father while he was in quarantine. Some of them are also quite heartfelt and silly. And I think that’s why the notes are so important because they show that we can still be creative, silly, and funny during very stressful times. Also, these sticky notes are important to me because they represent my parents’ commitment to each other; even when things got tough. -

Dig Deeper to Find Husband in Garden
During quarantine, families were forced to be together 24/7. That situation, along with the usual stresses of marriage led to jokes old and new. This meme shows that the wife buried her husband in the garden--we assume because she just. Could. Not. Take. It. Anymore. -

All Set With Nothing to Do
This is a humorous statement about the facts of life during quarantine, especially during the beginning phase. Many of us couldn’t work, we couldn’t go out—the “non-essential” stores, movie theaters, malls, restaurants, and bars were all closed, so there was nowhere to go anyway. This is funny because the author was very well-rested and all set to take on the day, but there was really no day to “take on.” He or she expresses our quandary well. We’re up, ready to go, but there is nowhere to go and nothing to do. -

Will Quarentine Ever End?
This is a meme I made after about two weeks into the quarantine. Many of us felt like it would never end. Little did we know that we had so many more weeks ahead of us. #homelife, #coronavirius, #isolation, #shelterinplace, #williteverend #ASU #HST580 -

Life at home during the Coronavirus isolation. People are finding that they have a lot of time on their hands--especially at first. Then a "new normal" set in and people became busier.
During the beginning of the shelter at home order, people were trying to figure out what to do with their time. #homelife, #isolation, #shelterathome, #naps, #eating #ASU #HST580
