"New York Art Fairs Are Returning, Eyes Open and Fingers Crossed"
The New York Times article from August 27, 2021 discusses the anticipation for the Armory Show 2021 edition to go forward after many art fairs decided to cancel this year’s editions in light of the decline in progress since the resurgence of the coronavirus in the summer of 2021. The article also comments on the changes in the art world, lower attendance, loss of participating galleries and a shifting demographic. There has been a notable transition away from blue-chip gallery-centric art fairs to include smaller businesses, in which many more are women-run and or owned by people of color. -

Selling during COVID
This is an article about selling a house during COVID. I wanted to include this source because one of my interviewees discussed some of the anxiety and stress that they experienced while trying to sell their home in March of 2020. This article provides context for what it is like to sell a home during COVID and how that market has changed. This article is by a realtor and provides advice and comparisons to what it may be like to sell a home during COVID and how that compares to selling during another crisis such as a recession. -

feelings about rules
During corona there have been many many rules, when it started we were quarantined and no one could go out, now we can but there are still many rules. The one i hate most is the mask rule, any mask will cause high humidity and its very uncomfortable. There were also the six feet rule, how do you have conversations or chat when so far from the other person, and the schools don't sell lunches anymore either AND the restaurants are mostly closed and we can really go to markets, so whats there to eat? -

Reason for the cause of Covid 19
I think the cause for covid is the meat markets in China which were very dirty and many species were brought there including sick animals. There was also not very many precautions to prevent diseases or viruses from spreading from animals to humans. This caused the outbreak that spread around the world. -

The Cause of Covid
In my own opinion, I believe that due to the lack of money and help from the government the Chinese had to resort to extreme means to feed themselves and their families. This is in no way their fault and probably is our fault as America and richer countries to not help and aid them. So from the lack of money in the slums of China, I think they had to eat not clean and weird things to stay alive which transmitted the virus from an animal to a human. -

What I Think Caused Covid
I believe that Covid was caused by some sort of bacteria in one the animals in the meat markets in Wuhan, China. I believe this because the CDC has released a statement saying that this is true. I trust them because they have the biggest and most trusted disease control center in the world. Also, it makes sense logically because these markets were not very sanitary and many diseases can come from animals, especially dead animals. Out of all of the theories I’ve heard, this one not only makes the most sense but also has the most evidence out of all the other theories. Many people believe the animal was a bat, but that has not been confirmed. -

The Cause of Covid
The cause of Covid is currently unknown. The amount of theories is extremely large. Since it started in China, it has to be some issue there. One theory is that it was a biological weapon but I don't think that makes sense. Nothing that is this contagious, to the extent of being a world wide pandemic, would be created. It also would not be released upon the people of their own country. Another theory would be that it is from dirty markets. I personally believe that this is the most likely option. There are filthy markets in China, as well as a massive population so a pandemic starting there makes a lot of sense. It could have originated off of a dead corpse of something like a pig. That makes a lot more sense and many agree with me and this idea. -

The Start
When i first learned about the virus i thought of it as just a surprise virus that would pop up in another country far away and it would be gone in a week. As it started growing and reaching other places in the world, I learned more and more about the virus and learned it was very serious. When I was told it originated from a street market in Wuhan, I wasn't surprised because it is a very poor filthy area where they sell meat. My opinions on this virus have remained constant, it is deadly, where a mask and do what you can to prevent the spread. -

who started covid
I believe that the man who ate the bat started COVID. For example it is proven that the body of a bat contains COVID in it. I also believe that the spread of COVID started from those 30 meat markets which lead to a rapid spread of COVID. -

What is the cause of the corona virus?
There are many possible things that could have triggered this virus, COVID-19. Some people believe that it came from a person that ate bat soup in China, made in a lab in china, came from a wet market in Wuhan, China, and more. But I believe that it either could have been made in a lab or could have come from the market in Wuhan. To me, these two reasons make the most sense to me because it seems kinda stupid that all of this could come from one person eating a bat. If it did come from a wet market in china, it could have possibly came from the animals that were there, they could have been carrying diseases, and sicknesses. Furthermore, it could be very possible it was made in a lab, they could have made this virus and set it out into the world. And you may ask yourself, why would they want to do that? I think China wanted to depopulate their country a bit, and "attack" the US. I am not sure if that is true but it could be a possibility. In conclusion, these both seem to be potential reasons as to why the corona outbreak began. -

The Beginning
I think the most believable way is The outbreak began in Wuhan, China a city with a population of over 11 million. The virus is believed to have originated from a market where animals such as bats, snakes, rabbit and birds are illegally sold. Humans as well as animals both living and dead are put together in close contact in markets in often unhygienic conditions. As the coronavirus is known to be transferred from animals to humans, it is believed market stallholders, who came into contact with animals were the first people infected with the strain. A 61 year-old frequent shopper at the wet market was the first person to die from the virus. -

The Cause of Covid-19
I have heard many different stories about how the Corona virus started. Everything from the government made it, to its warfare. At this point the only story I really believe is the one that takes place in Wuhan, China. My dad's side of the family lives in China, Taiwan, and Japan and we visit there a lot. There are these night markets where they sell everything that you could ever need and more. They have things from food, to arcade machines, and even fake luxury goods! I know that in the more parts of china they have markets that sell animals that the Americans would gag at. So the story goes that there was a person who got a bat to eat at one of these markets. However, this bat was infected with a disease. They didn't know and they saw people and that person saw other people. That's how I believe that it started. -

Origin of the Virus
I originally heard that the virus originated in China. I had hear that it came from people selling/buying bats as consumables on the Chinese market. Im not sure that the bat thing is true but I am sure it originated in China. I am honestly not sure about the origin of the Coronavirus. -

Ghost town in Fisherman's Wharf
When I was walking through Fishermen's Wharf, the location of tourists was completely dead to the point that it looked like an apocalypse, no boats were sailing through the ocean, no store's were open, not even a place to grab a cup of water; the area looked dead. The reason this photo/story is important to me is because in the beginning of Covid-19 it has shown how obedient people are when there is a deadly disease spreading throughout states. -

Going to The Market During COVID-19
During the COVID-19 pandemic the only time most people left there houses was to go to a market to get food once and awhile. In my house one person would go once a week and everyone always wanted to be the person to go. We would have a shopping list that everyone would write what they wanted and the person selected would have to get everything on the list. During to the market it felt like no one was on earth anymore. The roads were empty with no one insite. The markets were the busiest place so they had to restrict the number of people inside at once. While inside the market everything felt so dirty because you would constantly think about “was this touched by someone who had COVID.” This is important to remember because this is the only place people went during the pandemic and it made them happy just to get out of the house. -

Streets and Avenues / New York City (VII)
After college, and a year of vagabonding through Central and South America, I moved to the city forty-two years ago. I was drawn to New York, like many, by the energy and complexity of the city itself, and more specifically, the rich and endless theater found on its streets. While the array of cultural offerings has been a source of nourishment and pleasure, it is the streetlife that keeps me as excited as my first weeks here. What I love about New York is not what I know about the city, but how much I don't know. You cannot exhaust it as a subject, and from the start, I have made the city my primary interest and subject as a photographer. I always go out with a camera and am often mistaken as a tourist because of it. I take that as a compliment, given few can match the exalted state of excitement and awareness that a tourist experiences on a visit. When the Coronavirus hit and the staggered shutdown of the city went from a talked about possibility to a reality, I found myself inside my apartment looking out at the street below. At first, I made short trips to get necessities, then later added walks through Central Park, and now through the streets of Manhattan. If you think of a photograph as a piece of theater, with a stage set, lighting, cast, and choreography, the new version of the streetlife of New York is an eerie and fascinating show. The set and lighting is much the same, but the cast and choreography have wildly changed. Wandering through Midtown is like walking through an amusement park in the off-season. You experience the present colored by what you know it to be in season. -
