Mask Storage Solution
I submitted this image because it is a solution to a problem I thought I would never have. When Covid-19 started, my partner and I immediately started wearing masks. We felt it was something we could control during an uncertain time. As the months went on, and our cloth mask collection grew, we needed a place to keep them without being in the way. We purchased some adhesive hooks and placed them near our front door. Every time we leave the house our routine is to check for phone, wallet, keys, and mask. We have adapted quite well to our masks and by purchasing options that display our personalities, it feels as if we are making the best out of a bad situation. This image is meaningful to me because it represents our new routine. Masks are now just part of our daily checklist before leaving for work or to run errands. I do not mind wearing a mask, but I sometimes look at our collection and wonder how long it might be until we can retire our collection of masks. -

Teaching in a Pandemic
My mom has always been an elementary teacher and is finally nearing retirement. The pandemic has been a great challenge for her to adapt to. Her school year started with online instruction before moving to in-person learning later on. As a lifelong teacher, the adjustment to online teaching has been incredibly different and difficult for her. Especially considering the lack of support from the school and the district. The setup in the picture was jury-rigged together using materials that were already owned in order to try and provide the best learning experience for the students. Arizona State University HST485 -

New Beginnings Church - Adapting Church Services Amid COVID-19
Sharon Annesley of Blanchard, Oklahoma tells the story of her rural church and how it adapted their services during COVID-19. Her text document story chronicles the ways they were affected and adapted to the pandemic. This includes transition to virtual church services and transitions back after Oklahoma's loosening of restrictions upon churches in May of 2020. The church eventually created separate services between two church locations to allow the elderly and high risk members to attend exclusively in a safer environment than the rest of the lower risk members. This text document is authored under the name "Sharon Annesley, Member of New Beginnings Church - Blanchard, Blanchard, Oklahoma." The story is titled under the heading "NEW BEGINNINGS CHURCH - ADAPTING CHURCH SERVICES AMID COVID-19" (May 28, 2020) The story features a photograph of the church. Sharon Annesley hand-submitted the physical copy of this document to Clinton P. Roberts, curatorial intern, for submission into the #ruralvoices collection. Contributed by Clinton P. Baking as a New Hobby
Being stuck in quarantine could be boring if you have nothing to do. I decided to start new things to keep myself occupied. Since being stuck at home is a new reality for now, I decided to start baking and cooking. Baking after a day of school at home makes me calm and it gets my mind off of other things that are happening. In the beginning I did mess up a couple of times while baking, but I got the hang of it and it makes being stuck at home so much better. -

The New Normal
Due to the pandemic, the enforcement of using masks has changed my daily life. I had never had to use a masks but now I can’t enter any store without having one. Any store that requires masks won’t let anyone enter it without. This enforcement has gotten in me habit of never leaving my home without facial protection due to my fear of not being able to proceed with my normal everyday life. Though I know it is for the safety of my community it still has taken a huge part of my routine. #CSUS #HIST15H -

My spring 2020 High School Classroom
This is my classroom for the rest of the school year. I have a feline supervisor who sleeps on the job. I don't get to see my students, our contact is limited to emails and comments in Google Classrom. I don't get to smile at them or high five them for their good work. Some students are completely missing in action, others turn in the work, but remain otherwise silent. Too many send emails full of anxiety and stress about school and life. I sit here for hours everyday. -

How Religions Are Adapting to Coronavirus
The article desrbies how churches, mosques and synogogues are adapting to the new way of pacticing their religions. A Catholic church in Seattle has removed it's holy water from the fonts and the communal chalice will no longer be used. A Synagogue in East Village are holding services via livestream for Purim for those who wish to stay home. However, congregants can still attend service in person with the following changes: no covering eyes with hands during the Sh'ma and no kissing the Torah during processional.
