Text (Omeka Classic)

My grandfather would have been 91 later this month. He was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's. On April 3rd, he got sick, developed aspiration pneumonia, and was hospitalized. His doctor thankfully let my grandma visit him for one hour most days, in full gown, mask, and gloves. Ten days later, my dearly loved grandpa died.

I checked the rules for interprovincial travel, and looked at available flights. I nearly hopped on a plane, but ultimately the risk of getting infected and giving the virus to my grandma stopped me. It kills me to not be there to support my mom and my grandma. My grandparents were married 61 years. She was his caretaker these past years as his dementia worsened. She's lost now without him, and I feel helpless, stuck some 1,800 km away.
