Chalk messages on a green way path. For miles this greenway path to park and nature area had sporadic messages through out with motivational and comforting sayings. I had noticed children going out to the path and leaving these messages for all to see. It was nice to read these things and know that while practicing safe social distancing not engaging in close conversation with other while on walks that others can communicate their feelings and connecting with others using only a few words.

The greatest hardship for my children in this time is the loneliness of missing their beloved teachers and friends. Writing letters to their teachers helps them feel connected and is good writing practice for their home learning.

Thank you for your unwavering support of our FREE Grab-and-Go Meals Program during school closures. So far, we have served more than 50,000 student meals across all locations to children 18 and under in our communities. We thank all our amazing nutrition services employees and volunteers for feeding those children/teens in our community!
Due to health and safety guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Tempe Elementary School District leadership, we would like to share this important update regarding changes in the distribution of meals and changes in time to our grab-and-go schedule.
Beginning Monday, April 6, we will no longer be serving meals at Thew and Wood. Our five remaining feeding locations will still be serving meals between the hours of 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. only. You will be able to pick up both breakfast and lunch during this time.

Elderly populations are particularly at risk during this pandemic. Not only are they more susceptible to fatalities if they contract the virus, but they lack access to food and other services. Don Lee, along with Homecrest Community Services Inc., is working the frontlines to serve senior communities who need a helping-hand during this hard time.

This image shows uplifting messages written by children and adults in my hometown. It captures the feeling of my PA suburb currently; because kids are out of schools, most parents are working from home, and all social gatherings are cancelled, many families are spending time together outside. Some written messages we saw include "Keep going everything will come to you at the perfect time!" "Have an online Netflix party!" "Wash your hands!" and "We will get through this together!"

Free lunch contains a turkey sandwich with cheese on a white bread roll, cucumbers, red grapes, fat free milk, carrots, ranch dressing, mayo, and simply Chex strawberry yogurt. The food isn't the most nutritious, but it helps out students who may face food scarcity, and it returns some normalcy for youth accustomed to eating these meals every week day.

My son's school closed on Monday. He is a high energy kid and copes better when he knows what the day holds. So I devised a schedule for us where he can continue to learn whilst school is closed.
We are finding that having a schedule is really helping with our daily life. It is meant to be flexible and serves more of a touchstone for when things get difficult throughout the day.
Many people are saying that time in isolation is a great opportunity to learn an instrument or language, master a hobby or really relax - but those of us with children don't have that luxury.

Text Box explaining COVID 19 and Education:
"Most colleges and universities have shut down following spring break (March 16, 2020). Most students were not able to return to campus post spring break to retrieve their personal belongings such as clothes and school books. Online classes have been administered for most colleges in order to continue the curriculum. Some colleges are keeping their options open and are hoping to return students to campus on April 14, 2020 however some colleges have already decided that the remainder of the semester will be completed through online classes at home. Not only have colleges shut down but public school districts have also closed for an initial 3 weeks beginning March 16, 2020. Cancelling schools is causing issues for working parents who are either physically attending their workplace or are attempting to work from home. Their children are now home and will need parental support to continue their curriculum. Childcare has become an increasing issue."
