Hospital en la Selva Peruana Colapsa [REVIEW]
Hospital in the Peruvian jungle collapses
Description (Dublin Core)
This happened in the jungle of Peru in the city of Iquitos, which is actually the region that occupies the third spot of infectious cases. It is here that the main hospital has collapsed. As seen in the photograph, the bodies are stacked in the morgue of the hospital. There is a protocol on how to handles the cadavers of those deceased Covid19 patients. They are supposed to be bagged and disinfected and then made ready to be cremated or buried. Sadly it cannot be done because of the magnitude of victims. In this region, there have been 23 fatalities from this sickness and the confirmed cases are rising. There are also presumed cases that have not been registered and still those that have not yet been detected. The hospital beds in the intensive care units are at maximum capacity and it is expected that the decision that the government has taken like social distancing, and sanitation, can control the spread that has started in this region. There is hope to lessen the curve and stop the growth of this illness.

Curatorial Notes (Dublin Core)
Curatorial Note. Katy Kole de Peralta asks about item 2153 (https://covid19.omeka.net/admin/items/edit/2153): Also, I just had a Peruvian economist come on board who pointed out that one of the pieces uploaded by someone else is sensationalist, mostly false, and misleading. It's a video news report about a hospital in Iquitos (the Amazon). He sent me a more reputable article on the hospital and wants to add a redaction....how do I curate this? I want to preserve the sensationalist media, and clarify this tension over sensationalization vs. reality.Solution: we used item relations to connect 2153 and 2170. We added this note. We may use hashtags or other notations to indicate how we want to proceed after the move to Omeka-S.
