Medical Intensivists (COVID-19)
What sort of object is this: text story, photograph, video, audio interview, screenshot, drawing, meme, etc.?
This is a photojournalism project featuring videoconference portraits. The subjects are critical care faculty physicians and fellows engaged in emergency preparedness huddles and coordination of care meetings that took place during April and May of 2020 as the staff of downtown Philadelphia hospitals of the University of Pennsylvania Health System scrambled to accommodate an unprecedented onslaught of patients with acute respiratory failure caused by Covid-19 infection..
Tell us a story; share your experience. Describe what the object or story you've uploaded says about the pandemic, and/or why what you've submitted is important to you.
The portraits overlay a story mostly untold of the feverish “backroom” effort that distinguishes order from chaos inside hospitals suddenly at risk of being overrun. The photographs also explore the new people-and-place aesthetics of casual videoconferencing as first experienced in recent months by millions of people worldwide.
Use one-word hashtags (separated by commas) to describe your story. For example: Where did it originate? How does this object make you feel? How does this object relate to the pandemic?
