LGBTQ-Call
The LGBTQ Collection is still actively collecting.
If you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community and you would like to share how COVID-19 has impacted your life or what stories and events you’re paying attention to, share it to the archive! When making a submission relevant to this collection, whether explicitly dealing with LGBTQ+ issues or not, make sure to use the hashtag #LGBTQ+.
The collection is both imperfect and still growing. To that end, we want to offer visitors two final thoughs: One on representation and one on perspective.
- On Representation: Archives often reflect the perspective of curators. Consequently, the current collection is overwhelmingly white and US focused. Recognizing the silences within the collection, we invite visitors to ask themselves: Am I represented in these items? If not, consider sharing your story or contacting our curatorial team.
- On Perspective: There are many ways submissions may be classified as "LGBTQ." Visitors may find items they feel should be moved to the LGBTQ collection or tagged as LGBTQ items. If you have found an item you think should be in the LGBTQ collection, consider tagging the item or contacting our curatorial team.
