This image shows one of the ways I used to attend my online classes. Due to COVID-19, students were forced to return home and stay safe. In my case, my home was 3653 miles away from my classroom at Fordham University. Even though it was a hard transition, students all over the world managed to complete the semester.

Beloved Allston/Boston venue Great Scott was denied a lease renewal. People across the country have banded together to write to the venue's landlord offices. This template facilitates the process and may have increased the number of letters written.

On May 7th, Rolling Stone writer Rob Sheffield published a piece reminiscing on the time when it was okay to go to live music events. A section of the piece details Sheffield's last show before quarantine -- Control Top at Union Pool in Brooklyn. It was interesting to hear how much he enjoyed the show, since the company I work for worked really hard to book and promote it. I tweeted about the article from the company account and received very kind words back from Sheffield.

"Like all fans of music, sports, movies, any kind of public ritual that involves a crowd, I keep thinking about the Last Time. For me, that was seeing the Philly punk trio Control Top on March 5th, at Union Pool in Brooklyn. The singer jumped into the crowd and tackled one of her friends. (The friend was the singer from Yohuna, whom I had tickets to see a few weeks later at Trans-Pecos.) They rolled on the floor, screaming into the mic together. I grabbed a snack at the taco truck between bands, wrote in my notebook for a while, hung out late to see friends and argue with the guitarist about the Hüsker Dü discography. I asked the singer about my favorite song, the one where I always think she’s screaming about strange chickens. (It’s really “Straight Jackets.”) It was a glorious Thursday night. But now it feels like a different planet."

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Potomac River Running, ON Running, and Pacers contributed ON Running shoes to healthcare workers in Northern VA.

This image shows an incomplete paint by numbers that is depicting a French cafe. During a time of boredom and anxiety, artistic outlets such as this one provides comfort and distraction. I bought this paint by numbers to alleviate my boredom and to give me an excuse to step away from my family if I needed alone time. I bought this project when I knew I’d be in quarantine for more than two weeks. This complex painting allows me to not think about the scariness of the news and helps calm my anxiety about the current state of affairs.

I chose to focus on creating a collage that incorporates bits and pieces of different notable events that have taken place during this pandemic. This multi-media collage utilizes paper, gloves, masks, and cellophane in order to depict how this pandemic has changed our lives - from overpriced purell to lines at grocery stores and zoom meetings. I tried to incorporate many different pieces of history that anyone that lived through this era could relate to and I hope that came across!

I would love to tell a short story of how it is going in Czech republic during quarantine 2020, being a russian gringo and a student. I'm 23 years old, all my friends in the same age as well. Some of us used to work, some are still studying. When in Czechia started quarantine, it was only 3 or 4 people with Covid. Everybody agreed that quarantine started early enough, and that was a good thing. By the way, there was no panic on the streets or in supermarkets. It seemed like czechs already were prepared. Schools closed immediately , and they're closed still. Every teacher is in contact and fully understands, that this stress makes us, students, less productive. But still doing homework is almost impossible. My friends with asian look were discriminated a little, but we totally understood that it's just for a while, that it's normal fear, I was afraid of everybody walking by me on the streets or making noise like coughing. We are waiting for a normal life. Waiting and pretending, that we still have this life. We work out, cook, draw, make photosets, play ukulele and have a good time with a little taste of fear in the mouth. Friends that used to work, don't have any chance to come back to there work. It's kinda stressful, cause who will help us, non-czech and non-adult? Of course, I can say, that the problem should be solved by Czech state, that they should help us, or maybe at least I should be angry. But honestly, I'm greatful for being here, with careful Czechs and my friends, for being studying from home and having computer from school (yes, they helped with this). For starting finely my small blog about art. And for saving my favourite small coffee shop that is still working and making damn good coffee.

The Various Emotions of a 21 Year Old in Quarantine

Below is a photograph of Brian Sarkisian. An Auburn Mass. hometown hero, state champion baseball player, and now an essential medical worker at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester Massachusetts. Brian is a kind and gentle man whose only goal has ever been to help those in need. He is a nursing student at Worcester State University who previously picked up shifts at UMass Memorial as a student nurse to help people and gain experience for his practice. Now he works tirelessly around the clock handling non COVID-19 patients so that the doctors can focus their efforts. Brian speaks often about the business of the hospital and his constant fear of contracting the virus, but still he says that he would never trade or give up what he’s doing for the world. In a quote he gave me Mr. Sarkisian states “This is what I’ve always wanted to do. I’m in this field and in school for it because I want to make the worst times in people’s lives bearable”. Thank you for everything you do Brian Sarkisian.

A personal account of the pandemic.

It has been three weeks now since I've been home from school. Three weeks since my friends, girlfriend, dorm room, and the rest of my sophomore year was stripped from me. Before it happened we prayed that it wouldn’t. That we’d be able to finish our school year out. That after we left for spring break we’d be able to see each other again. Now instead of wishing my senior friends, and girlfriend, goodbye with hugs and a wave as they cross the stage at commencement, the best I could do was a “good luck” post on social media. We are all doing our best to stay strong during this hard time. However, it’s okay to be sad. Just because collectively bad things are happening to everyone, doesn’t make you or I selfish for being sad about our own personal troubles. I’ve had too many friends so far start to slip and breakdown because they ignore their feelings of loss and sadness. Here is the last photo I took with my girlfriend before the quarantine. We’ve been together for six months. I don’t know when I’ll see her again.

The struggle of dealing with online classes.

Quarantine College The coronavirus came in with no announcement and changed everyone’s lives as we know it. For me one of the biggest changes was school. I was just about one third through my second semester in college when news of the corona virus began to spread. At first it was said to be only in China, but more and more cases were being seen around the world. Then the first case in Arizona came, and where else would it be but my very own school, Arizona State University. Still there was no panic or change. We continued with school as usual. We then entered our long-awaited spring break. This is where everything changed. We never came back to school from spring break, or we never went back to on campus classes. Every class was moved to online. For many this was a horrible turn of events as in class learning helps many, myself included. As for me it was not bad, at first many of my professors even insisted it was only a temporary change. I still visited campus to see my friends or study, but everything quickly changed. I lived at home, but I saw as all my friends were basically kicked off of campus. I have not seen many of them since. Then came the subject of online school. I thought I would be fine but studying from home was just not the same. On one hand I could study on my own time, but on the other I had limited access to all the universities helpful buildings. I no longer had access to libraries or study areas. Studying at home also means I am with my family 24/7. While I Love my family going to school could be a break from them, but most importantly they can be a big distraction when trying to work. Another problem I have is finding motivation to do my work. I do not not why but it feels as school is optional now even though it is not. I must find a dedicated time to do my work, but I get distracted and or have no motivation. The coronavirus has changed the way everyone lives their lives in 2020. Some positive changes and many negative changes have come. I think I have finally developed a better way to study. Although it was hard to overcome all the challenges that the corona virus brought I will never forget my freshman year of college.
