The beginning of the year is difficult for China. Coronavirus disease widely spread. Wuhan, the city of China, had to lockdown in order to prevent the large spread of the virus. The virus breaks out at a period when everyone is preparing for the Chinese New Year, one of the most important festivals in a year. It should be the festival that all the family members are gathering together and spending time together. All the people can get back to their hometown and have a rest while the virus changed everything. Everyone had to stay at home and get the various update news from the Internet.

I came to America at the beginning of 2020, so I did not have a realistic feeling in that tense condition. However, I saw a lot on social media that how China deals with the virus as the first country. Most of the medical staff from the different cities gathered in Wuhan in two days, and two emergency specialty field hospitals were built in ten days. Those contributors gave up the time with their families, facing up to the challenges. I was deeply touched by those heroes. Unfortunately, some of them are infected by the virus and sacrificed in this fight. They fought in the first line to try their best to cure the patients. I saw a lot of touching stories that were shared on social media. An 80-year-old lady donated all her deposit to support the government. Even though the money is limited, the intention is stronger than everything.

April 4 is a traditional day for memorizing dead people. This year, the Chinese government announced to stand in silent tribute for three minutes, starting at ten. In order to memorize those people who contribute a lot and died, all the people and public transit should stop at the time. All the transit should honk the horn at the same time. The national flags are flown at half staff to show the highest respect to those heroes. They try their best to protect the country and every single citizen. It was the first time that all the people in China took it so seriously. All the entertaining websites changed to whole black, and all the games are shut down.

The world is still fighting for the virus, and it still is the most serious issue that we need to concern. I think the spring will eventually come in the following months and hope everyone can stay healthy!
