Kendrick Lamar's FEAR. off his Pulitizer winning album DAMN. sums it up best. Different situations, but fear is fear. My mom calls out to me, "it's time to get some groceries!". It's no problem, but going outside has become my responsibility lately. I can't blame my parents at all - we're all scared! My dad is a health care professional and has watched this crisis first hand listening to his coworkers and observing the effects on our community. We've always been a news-watching family. We all know the information that we're going to hear on the evening news but when it's just what they do. Hang out, chat, drink some tea/coffee, and watch the nightly news. It hasn't been easy. I understand why ignorance is bliss much more now. Watching the countless lives lost makes going out harder than I anticipated and it must be so much worse for them than for me. My parents are forced to live in fear for a few months, not just because of the global pandemic, but what it could mean for their jobs, for their sibling's jobs, and for their kids. This is tough of a situation as I've ever seen, yet through the fear, we find time to laugh and sink into a new routine. We haven't spent this much time together since high school - and that has been a wonderful silver lining to this disaster. I can't wait to get back to my normal routine and I know that the stress relief for them and all of us will be a great help, but I know that I will look back on this time spent with them as a bittersweet way to end college. #REL101
